I was just browsing EVs on Cars and Bids as well as some ICE vehicles and I decided to see what Lightnings had gone for in the past on that site. I love my truck but it's on a 24 month lease and I'm into Month 2 now. I'm already thinking about what's next. I'm interested in staying in a Lightning, but , buying my XLT truck out at the stated residual of $46K is definitely not happening. I have had a lease holder want to negiotiate with me in the past on a buyout, but, the generally accepted practice in the industry is that the residual is the buyout price. And I threw that prior lease vehicle back anyway despite an attractive buyout offer, because, I just didn't trust the CVT on that vehicle long term (wife's car).
Regarding Lightnings on the C&B site, I noticed the most recent auction was for a '23 Pro model 3 months ago. I noticed also that the auction did not reach the reserve. The trade in value on KBB for a 9000 mile 23 Pro with the seller's zipcode in excellent condition is around $35K. Link:

Just browsing the pics, it seems this unit has vinyl seats. That is an attractive feature for me. I'm having to tell the kids now that they can't eat in my XLT because of the cloth seats. I also like the 18" wheels and tires versus the 20s I have on my XLT. This one also has the 9.6K Pro Power and a spray in bedliner, neither of which my XLT has.
Otherwise, the tech seems about the same as my XLT as far as what's on the dash and so forth. Maybe a manual driver's seat whereas my XLT has power driver's seat. My XLT also has heated cloth seats, but this Pro appears to have the control on the dash for the seat heaters.
This Pro does not have the trailer wheel dealie on the center dash, whereas my XLT does, but I've only pulled a trailer once in the last 10 years. I hauled a load of bricks using a rental Home Depot trailer using my old Navigator that I had before the Lightning.
What else am I missing? I had thought that when I was done with this lease I might upgrade to a used Lariat outright purchase. But if I decided that I really don't need the stuff in the Lariat, then judging by this Pro on C&B, I might be better off going with a Pro instead of another XLT. This 23 Pro stickered new for $11K less than my XLT. That seems like it would also lead to a lower used value than an XLT.
Hmm.
