At home / Los Angeles Ladwp, I average. 27 cents per kwh with taxes and fees.
I'm allowed the first 700 kwh/ tier 1, at a cost of .21 plus fees and anything beyond the first 700 is .27 plus fees for tier 2. Then there is a tier 3 and tier 4 which I never reach. I'm charging level 2 running 9.6kwh on the charger.

Haven't needed dcfc yet and still waiting on the adapter.

Just curious about your annual average 1.47 MPK. Do you tow, often, with your Lightning? Or is that an effect of cold weather driving? Here in FL, my longterm average is 2.4 MPK (pretty much corresponding to EPA-rated efficiency); but I never tow, and in our crazy dense traffic, it’s hard to drive the truck fast enough for long enough to see much less than 1.8 MPK. “This Trip” for my lowspeed daily commute (6mi, avg speed about 30mph) typically shows 3+ MPK. [on OEM 20” General Grabbers, not A/T tires]

I wish. When I do go out of town, it’s all highway going 65 to 70. And even in the best conditions 75° with no wind at all, best I see is 1.9. (Winter 1.1 to 1.3)That’s completely flat driving in a straight line 50 miles. Towing a 4000 lb camper it’s .9 going 55 to 60

my average over long-term is better than taxman’s even at 1. 8/10,000 miles. Which is curious, you drag racing all the time or what? Lol

Wow! I guess “real world” conditions vary according to the real world we drive in. There’s almost always traffic all around me, so “drafting” on the highway boosts efficiency. Our 70mph highways are often clogged with traffic doing 50-60 or less, depending on time of day, and unknown to most, we have hardly any significant wind in FL (apart from major storms, obviously), and insignificant changes in elevation.

What a difference to TX which is for me 11.7 cents / kWh and I am averaging 2.3 miles / kWh. I don't know how you average 1.47 though. Even on a road trip from TX to Maine I saw my worst leg at 1.7-1.8 and that was driving most all of it above 70 mph with 4 people and the bed full of luggage (and HIS system for most of it).
The truck seems to add about 6000 kWh / year to my bill. I am considering switching to the free nights plan, instead of my solar buyback net metering.

Pardon my ignorance, but does cold weather actually
1) reduce drivetrain efficiency? or
2) reduce battery capacity and output? (thereby reducing range)
I always assumed it was the latter, not the former. (I’ve never used an EV in cold weather.) I guess I would have expected the only difference in mi/kWh in cold weather to be due to cabin heating (and possibly battery heating), with some additional air resistance due to increased air density, and would not have expected it to be so significant.

I have real-time pricing in Illinois. I can log on the day before and see what my rates will be by the hour and plan charging accordingly. Thought the group might be interested to see what that looks like.

1.47 is overall annual composite of total energy consumed at the meter and miles drive for the year.

My best weekly MPK was 2.2, worst has been 0.8 in recent time due to extra remote start heating of the cabin.

I've only towed a couple times very short distances in 2024

Point A to point B efficiency ranges from 1.4 to 2.2 for actual traction consumption plus cabin & overhead in transit

Depending on where you are in MA, electricity rates should be coming down soon. Eversource is also going to be trialing off-peak rates for EV charging soon. There's apparently already a plan I keep getting ads for, but it only saves you .01/kwh.

Also worth checking out competitive supplier rates.

Our city offers a third party energy solution, my energy come from that inexpensive source while National Grid charges a tremendously costly delivery services, so far no TOU using Ford's FCSP, once that fails, I'll buy a EVSE that's compatible with a rebate program, that's a very modest credit for sticking to TOU hours

Yeah I just checked. The best plan I found was Clearview which was either $.1279/kwh with a 24 month lock or $0.1419/kwh for 12 months with a 250kwh/month free nightly charging (11p-6a). Only a marginal benefit. I already have the Chargepoint. Delivery costs are what kill it.

On the flip side solar is a 20% IRR for a 20 year life, 13% even without the tax credit, assuming ~3% increase in cost of electricity per year.

Interesting, the Seekonk location at early morning hours would have saved me $51 on last months charging, I used 522 kWh at $184 at home would have been ~$133 including the subscription fee.
