and Tesla doesn't support iPhone Car Play. But whee..... Spotify and games. I wish Ford would have the option to store camera feed though.
I seem to be a minority, but I still applaud Tesla daily for not embracing CarPlay and Android Auto.

The mess I get in the Lightning from the failed Ford Navigation tries and the lack of control on the Carplay map on the truck screen are both pathetic compared to the seamless and almost perfect use of the Tesla systems every day.

I don't use the wireless charging much. The one time I needed to use it, others were using the cables, it over heated my phone. On a road trip, just threw the phone on the wireless charging pad. Thought it was charging and checked my phone at a stop, iPhone said it was over heated and to please wait until it cools. Guess I won't be using the wireless charging! @Ford Motor Company

Hello, Jerry! Send us a private message with your VIN and the name and location of your local Ford dealer. I’d be happy to see what I can do to assist with this wireless charging pad concern. Thanks!

I have a newer iPhone with the Apple MagSafe leather case. So far, the wireless charging and wireless CarPlay have been perfect.
My max pro won’t line up just right so using navigation always leaves me losing charge.
I just use a cable though it often(annoyingly) gets caught under center console cover

Yeah, all it does is overheat my phone. I just use a cable all the time if I am going to be driving any distance. Pad is pretty much useless.

So I have a MY23 Lariat and this issue is still very much present. I had an S21 with overall mediocre battery life and just recently replaced it with a 23+ which fortunately has some of the best battery endurance of the current crop of phones. The wireless charger starts off strong, but after a minute or two appears to severely throttle. Looking at the phones chart, it has a short spike of charging that almost looks like 10W wireless, and then it saw tooths barely managing to keep up. I'm not sure if the phone gets hot and start disabling it, or if the truck is having an issue, but either way from what the phone is reporting, the charger clearly appears to be cutting out. This was true on my S21, it was true on my friend's iPhone, and it's still true on my 23+. It's much more noticeable when running Android Auto (massive battery hog too, I sent feedback to Google). Fortunately, I do like the onboard navigation when its in 3D mode since like Google maps it gives you a ton of look forward ability on the tall 15" screens. When I don't run google maps, the phone appears to charge, but the moment I put that big demand on it, the charger or phone cuts out intermittently over and over. Like I said, the battery chart looks like ragged saw teeth. Not sure what Ford can do about that, but like most of y'all, for road trips I'll manually connect it via USB-C which sucks because wireless charging and wireless Android Auto would have been incredibly convenient.

There is a SW update to control the charging pad but it is not deliverable/updateable OTA. Apparently only with FDRS locally connected, which means a dealer trip unless you've invested in your own setup to do updates.

There is an FDRS update for this module. I've installed it but have not checked it out...I just have too many other things in the compartment for it to be useful.

Looks like GDN beat me to this.

Is there an update for the charger that I can request at a service visit. My wireless charger also is only producing heat not charge even with the case off

There is an update for the charger if you have an older truck, likely '22, it is the WACM update that will show up in FDRS. I don't recall when they put the update out, but most '23 trucks should have had it from the factory.

This particular update, will never be included in an OTA update per the experts, there is some limitation. So manually by the dealer is the only way, however, many won't do it because it is not part of a recall and Ford won't pay the dealers for their time to update SW like this.

So it's all about finding a good tech and being really nice to them and hoping for a favor.

Cool. I have a service coming up and I’ll ask about that. @Ford Motor Company is there a way to request updates to modules during a service.
