Wondering if anyone has tried removing these on a 2021 yet, and if there's any issues? Does the 2WD not come with these 1" blocks? I was thinking of removing them and adding Fox 2.0, set to 1" to retain 1" of rake and improve handling. My 4x4 Sport w/o FX4 has 3" of rake stock.

Not, yet. But I plan try it soon. I'll see how I like it, and put them back if the boat makes its squat too much for my liking. I just want to verify I have enough thread on the U-bolts. I can’t seem to find the oem 2wd ones anywhere...yet.

I believe only the 4wd has blocks, but there are 3 different blocks for the 4wd based on wheelbase and payload configuration.

I saw another post for rear flip (drop )with block removal pic that had enough extra thread to do it, so should work. I hope. Let us know. :)
But thats one reason I'm wondering if 2 WD doesn't have it but uses same U bolt.
Didn't know there were other possible blocks. Seen all kinds of stacked add ons.
Was wondering if there is a min thinnest block that should be in there?
I believe people have just removed them on previous gens.

All three of those blocks are 4wd only.

The 2wd doesn’t have blocks, that’s why some people on the old model would use the 2wd U-bolts, just because they wouldn’t hang down as much. Some others just cut off the excess for a cleaner look. The 21’s have a curved top U-bolt, and the old ones were square so they aren’t interchangeable. After looking at mine, it does look like there is plenty of thread there to pull the blocks and use the existing bolts.

2WD U bolt part number is

ML3Z5705A

I just was at the dealer and confirmed the part number on 4 different 2WD F150s. All were SCREW models.

Just removed mine today.
Lariat 6.5' bed, Super Crew
Max Tow, 4x4

Took 1 inch out of the fender to tire gap, defiantly enough to take away the obvious rake of the truck, certainly not level, but I sure like it this way better.

Original U-bolts are just barely long enough, but they are long enough. I'd recommend installing some washer to keep from bottoming out the nuts, upon reinstall.

would you be interested in selling me your old blocks. I have a Tremor which has 2” blocks and I want to drop the rear end 1” and lift the front 1.5”. My truck currently has a 4” rake. I figure if I lift the front 1.5” and drop the rear 1”c the weight transfer should level me out pretty good and leave me less than 1.5” rake that the math on paper says I’d have remaining.

do you have a pic of your U bolts after you removed the blocks so I can see how much thread you have hanging down?

I don't think I'm ready to get rid of the blocks just yet, still trying to decide if I want to keep it lowered, or put them back in, and raise the front to 'level' it.

Spacers are Part No. 5598 MSRP$29.38 from my local dealer, if you want to just buy some from Ford.
U-Bolts are Part No. 5705 MSRP$32.50 (backordered...)

What kind of deep socket did you use that is deep enough to put those nuts on?

I tried this tonight. Got pretty far and realized my deep socket was not deep enough and had to put the blocks back in. Huuuge pain. Also realized my torque wrench maxes out at 80 ft lb.

I have a Craftsman set 1/2inch drive set that I used, had them for a long time, so I don't know if they are are extra deep, or something not 'normal'. I will say I first tried my impact sockets, but that socket was not deep enough. Another option would be a crows foot.

Sorry about your head aches with the process. You will likely want to just order the shorter U-bolts anyway, as these are barely threaded enough to accomplish this job. You need to be careful to tighten them evenly otherwise you'll just bottom out the nut where the treads end. I would highly recommend a thick washer or 2 under each nut to ensure good clamp load.

Hi,

Since you removed the blocks, have you noticed any difference in the handling? Does it understeer less?

I would be interested to know if there is any difference on high speed curves?

Thanks

I just got off the phone with my local Ford dealer and they quoted $35/per U-bolt for the 2 wheel drive ($140 total) and $8 for replacement nuts. If you have a 4x4 and want to ditch the longer bolts and use 2 wheel drive u bolts it's not a cheap mod. If you want to keep the longer 4x4 u bolts then make sure you have washers and a really long deep socket in order to tighten the nuts as there will be a lot of thread showing on the 4x4 u bolts.

Haven't got the truck yet, but when I get it, was planning on removing the blocks and just cutting the threads down. So there's not so much hanging down. Still gonna put some washers on to tighten up good. Think that will work?
