I have a Craftsman set 1/2inch drive set that I used, had them for a long time, so I don't know if they are are extra deep, or something not 'normal'. I will say I first tried my impact sockets, but that socket was not deep enough. Another option would be a crows foot.

Sorry about your head aches with the process. You will likely want to just order the shorter U-bolts anyway, as these are barely threaded enough to accomplish this job. You need to be careful to tighten them evenly otherwise you'll just bottom out the nut where the treads end. I would highly recommend a thick washer or 2 under each nut to ensure good clamp load.
A box end wrench might be a better option over crows foot. Way stronger. If clearance around nut allows.

Hi,

Since you removed the blocks, have you noticed any difference in the handling? Does it understeer less?

I would be interested to know if there is any difference on high speed curves?

Thanks
I have the 157" wheelbase on my truck. And I haven't noticed any change in handling characteristics. I have a sweeping interchange I take everyday at 70 mph, posted 'recommended' speed is 50mph.

So over 157" with a 1 inch drop it's only changing the caster angle by ~0.36 degrees. Typical alignment specs allow for +/- 1 deg, so it's still within factory specifications.

With the spacer installed my truck ran fairly level with my camper hitched up, so I plan on adding airbag helper springs in the spring to maintain that, and prevent the rear from having a squat to it.

I removed mine and added a lowering shackle. I used a 2 degree axle shim. The original ubolts were retained. 2021 RCSB

Hi Gents, short time viewer/first time poster...thanks to all who teach others before we screw it up.

Just purchased my '22 and it's got darn near a 4in rake, 37 1/2" or so in front x 41 1/2". Motofab 2.5" leveling kit arrived today, and I intend to remove the rear spacer, which should get me near level.

Anyone have torque specs for the ubolt nuts?

Anyone see problems with my plan?

I had 4 1/8" of rake on my 157" wheel base and I added the Motofab 2" level kit. I now have 1 7/8" of rake. Works perfect for when I have a trailer loaded and connected, sits just above level. I thought of removing the rear block as well, but then I would squat with any type of load.

OK, going to do the Motofab install in the next couple of days and see how I like it.

Tighten the U-bolt nuts in a cross pattern in 4 stages.
Torque :
Stage 1: 30 lb.ft (40 Nm)
Stage 2: 59 lb.ft (80 Nm)
Stage 3: 89 lb.ft (120 Nm)
Stage 4: 111 lb.ft (150 Nm)

OK thanks! I'll hold off and see what the 2.5 up front does

I didn’t remove the bock in mine but did add the blue sumo springs and it makes a huge difference when I’m trailering. I didn’t install the spacer so under normal load the sumo springs don’t touch but if you remove the blocks they may touch all the time and the ride might stiffen up.

OK 2.5 inch Motofab leveling kit and 285/65/20 BFG K02's

Rear blocks are still in, a little over an inch rake, I'll probably keep it how it is. I love it and glad I went with the 2.5 height, brought the front end way up and the air dam actually looks good now.

Looks great and matches your house. I think the rake looks good, for some reason when this model has less than an inch of rake, they look nose high. Probably some visual trickery with the body lines.

I haven’t had a chance to get pictures yet, we’re in snow town right now! But I did remove the rear blocks also. I had about 3.75” rake on a 2022 SCAB, 4wd, sport model. I think it looks a lot better, truck won’t be towing or even hauling too much so I’m not too concerned about squat later. So I removed them, bought 2wd u-bolts, and at the same time replaced the factory shocks with Bilstein 5100’s. Also torqued down with above specs, thanks @Zyvin !

Nice. How do you like the 5100's? Do they have 2wd versions? 4wd only/ Just curious. I thought about trying some new rear shocks, just wanted to see if I needed to buy 2wd specific since my block is removed.

Sorry, meant to put that in there. Yes, I bought 2wd 5100’s. @Stage3Motorsports recommended those because I did remove the block, they said the travel range would be better with 2wd versions.

Hello folks,
I have a 145" WB Lariat 501A FX4 with Max Tow pkg. What is the downside to removing the spring blocks other than ride height while towing or carrying a load? I don't plan to tow or haul much. I would like to remove some of the rake without lifting the front. Are the blocks just simply spacers or are there ride quality, driveline , or warranty considerations?
