maybe they arent, maybe he is number one and once he gets there they will ask for a deposit to assure he stays number one. Do the dealers know pricing yet?

That's a nice timestamp you have there. Would be a shame if something happened to it. . . .

This is true, they probably want that Market Adjustment for prioritization lol,,,

Ford has it written on paper that they need priority list by the 18th and in order to order you need an invitation from Ford, not the dealer. Beware OP lol

So, I show up at my dealer at our 2 pm appointment.....

But, first a little prequel...

Yesterday at noon I get an email from Ford informing me my dealer has been sold and they are returning my $100 to my credit card (which they did last night) but nothing will affect my reservation.

At 12:30 I get two boilerplate emails from the "new dealership" saying don't worry, we will take care of you. I call them right away and he says the same thing. They will let me know when they have more info.

Today at 11:30 am I get a call from the dealer who says the order banks are opening and Ford tells them to call me and please come down and I did.

This is the process as they understand it:

A Reservation gets you in the door of the dealership which may prioritize you according to instructions from Ford. If they prioritize you up to their limit you get a Wave #1 Invite from Ford in the next couple of weeks. At my dealership they were assigned 11 reservations and allotted 5 priorities (I am #1). All other reservations by time and day stamp will be in subsequent Waves.

After a number of calls to Ford we found out the actual order bank will not open until early January so we could not spec out prices or options but the salesman could get enough info from me to get ready to put in my order the minute it opens.

Actual build order for the first wave will be established by parts supplies.

The 'Contract" I signed specifies I want (Lariat + Premium Package) according to the chart: below
(He looked up the chart and it is an official Ford document that has not been revised up to now.)

and

The MSRP cannot exceed $80,000 so I will be guaranteed my $7,500 Tax Credit or Rebate (if legislation passes). Any additional "bounty" (dealership markup) is specified and limited.

In the next couple weeks we will work out all the specifics.

I gave them a $1,000 deposit.

Not exactly the game I was hoping for but at least I am not so much left hanging and I now have a relationship that I believe I can count on according to the contract.

Edit: These are the facts as I was told and I do not guarantee everything is Gospel.

How much markup?

Is it refundable?
Refundable if we do not send the order in to Ford - then I go back on the reservation list and wait for the second wave of non-prioritized.

Thank you!

I can walk away from this but chances are I would have to wait til 2023 (I reserved a +11 hours).

I have limited my liability and gotten ‘priority‘ and a promised invite.

My salesman handles all Lightnings and he promises to help me post my order in the first minute the order bank opens.

Some of this may not seem “fair” (Don’t Yell at Me Please!) but apparently this is the game much like California Bidding Wars on houses.

If you were 1st at that dealership and you get to order first with that dealership. That seems fair. Congrats on making progress. Be sure to update your experiences, etc for the benefit of slow pokes like me.?

I don’t mean to sound rude so I apologize in advance but your OP on this thread was/is misleading. Then you follow up with ANOTHER misleading/false claim. I am having a hard time understanding if you are trolling or just poorly informed. if it’s the latter may I suggest you Double (triple?) check your info before posting? if I am reading correctly you are #1 at your dealer ordering 11+ hours after the reservations started? If so that must be a truly low volume dealer and it seems unlikely you will get one early on. Maybe not even a 2022 based on other info posted. Or was that a second reservation made that late?

Guys. I have never purchased a new car before. Is this normal? Signing a contract with a deposit before ordering and before knowing what exactly it is you are ordering (options and pricing) without any communication from Ford telling us what to expect next. Where in the “contract” they state that they could add to the MSRP later? Is this how things normally work in dealerships?

Did they tell you that prioritization doesn’t guarantee Allocation?
