Nobody wants a dealership when they are acquiring.
But then if they need someone to service....
Not worth putting up with the bullshit dealerships pull all the time. Split service from sales, then. I don't care, get rid of the scummy sales tactics.

Been buying for more than 50 years. I don't buy from someone I felt that way about.
Although I'm sure some folks might not have access to dealerships with integrity. But they aren't all the same

Which is exactly the problem. The experience is way too inconsistent and ranges from "they've taken care of me for 75 years" to "they tried to sneakily charge my spouse $15k in markups and useless add-ons".

Any system that's expected to work like that is broken.

Are you saying that you have never had a good buying experience. Ever?
I get the stereotype. Really, I do. But there are a lot of ordinary folks, neighbors even, that put food on the table by selling cars and trucks. It's not nearly as cut & dry a task as many think.

I'm a dinosaur, I guess. I have made a few folks earn the sale and the relationship often leads to future business.

I have had the same inconsistency with Tesla's direct sales and service model - but no recourse, nowhere else to go - and no one to call - not even the state attorney general because they have escaped the dealership and franchise licensing rules. With dealers, you have options.

And that’s exactly why the sales manager at my local dealership said they would stick to MSRP. “Yes, we could make some more money right now playing these ADM games, but we’d rather you come back to us next time you need a vehicle….and the time after that too”.

That is absolutely incorrect... you were either given incorrect information or just posting your own speculation.
Well, why don't you enlighten me then? How is that incorrect? My understanding (from the dealer instructions and info from my dealer) is that you don't have a chance at a 2022 unless your dealer forwarded Ford your name on 12/17. The first 15K vehicles will probably be gone by the second order wave (1/19 I think).

It's simple.

First... The 15k number is not official. Ford has not announced publicly nor to dealerships how many trucks they will produce In 2022. Heck, I doubt Ford even knows. I'm sure they have a goal, but it will depend on a lot of factors coming together on time. They may plan to make more than 15k. Maybe less. I don't know. All I know is Farley, or maybe it was Palmer, was recently seen on video (posted here on this forum) saying that the 15k number frequently cited in the media was incorrect.

Second, we all read the dealer instructions. They don't say you won't get a truck if you weren't on the priority list. In fact, many dealers didn't submit a priority list. Many dealers, the most ethical and fair ones in my opinion, are leaving their reservations in the original order based on reservation timestamp.

Just because your dealer is pulling shenanigans and taking bribes (aka markup) in exchange for prioritizing customers does not mean all dealers are doing it. Nor does it mean somebody who is number 1 based on prioritization at dealership x will get a truck any sooner than somebody who is number 1 at dealership y based on reservation timestamp.

Now you are enlightened. You're welcome.

"Hi, this is Ford. We're glad to hear that your answering machine is working which means that you’re NOT currently experiencing a “Rolling Blackout” or a “Public Safety Power Shut Down” which means that you might actuality have a hope in hell of charging your new Lightening F150”!

1. You can't pump gas during a power outage (unless they have a generator backup).
2. Do people still own answering machines?
3. A F150 Lightning can power your whole house during a blackout, so seems like people with more tenuous power supplies would want one.

I was joking! ...kinda

We're all 100% on board with the "green utopia" and we have to start somewhere. I’m sure that if the internet had been around back then, the buggy whip manufacturers would have been poking fun at the automobile.

Hey, I'm doing "my" part.

I have a gasoline generator and enough gas to get me through until the wind starts blowing the windmills again. ...or stops blowing the power lines together.

In his defense, I made the horrible mistake of accepting my smartphone's predictive text for Lightening instead of Lightning and suffered from it for days without noticing.

I'm probably going to regret just typing that once again. :)

With dealers you always have the option of going somewhere else, to another dealer. With Tesla, you're pretty much screwed unless you decide to abandon Tesla for another brand.
