with only 3 months worth of driving the GOM doesn't have much data to work with. Now that I have 15k miles worth of data I find the GOM to be quite accurate. case in point, the other morning I woke up to 30 degrees and the GOM (85% on an ER) showed 213 miles. two days later with 85% and 70 degrees it shows 260. only difference was temperature. But I never noticed that behavior the first winter I had the truck... it constantly learns.
It doesn't keep thousands of miles of data, it uses hundreds of miles.

2 years ago the algorithm was different, Ford has tweaked it more than once.

This! My S.O. drove the ST Adrenalin while I drove the Mustang GT. The STA had Pirelli Scorpion tires and one day I noticed they looked a little worn on the shoulders. She said “I drive it normally“. Then she took me to the Ford dealer to pick up the GT after service. I swear she went 270 degrees through the roundabout at over 30 mph and I thought “Holy Crap”. Then I said “Do you always take the truck around the roundabout like this ?” She replied “Yep, the truck corners good”.

Silently I thought “Oh, yikes!“

I really enjoy my truck but in the last two weeks, I've noticed a big jump downward in the estimated mileage. It's showing 179 estimated at 90% charge right now.

I've only had the truck.for 3 months. It seems a little early for that kind of drop.

Looks like you drive a lot around 70 mph. That would be about right. The computer calculates the range based on your driving consumption vs EPA when you first get the truck. I normally get about 2.0 mi/kwh. So for me 2.0 x 131 x 0.90 = 236 mi. From the screen shot, your average consumption seems to be 2.0294 mi/kwh.

You can reset that by the way.

My experience, I have a 23 lariat ER with 16437 miles and going on 1.6 years of owning it. I live in FL so I do not get the extreme cold. I home charge 99.9% at home to 80% except when I take a little long range trip where I can do a round trip on 100% charge. I have noticed that in the summer time I get 248-252 miles at 80% charge. In the winter I get 240-242 miles. Now that it is getting warmer, but the nights are still colder I get 242-244 miles. I keep a spreadsheet of every charge and milage. I have noticed that when charging small amounts like 12-15kw to top it off at 80% the milage added is very close to the milage I drove. Sometimes a little less or more depending on how I drove. When I wait to charge it from 60% to 80% the miles added are always more then I actually drove. Doing this greatly reduced my anxiety of running out of juice. I know about what I can expect from the way I drive it. I know that I will never get the what is shown for range but I will be in the ball park. The only issue I have had was a month after I bought it one of the battery modules went bad. Interesting 4 weeks prior to module going out I had for the first time tried a EA public charger. I am wondering if batteries need to be broken in just like an ICE.

Just another data point for you: really short trips (<5 miles) are harsh on the guess-o-meter too. Especially if the HVAC is on and there was no preconditioning done.

Going to the grocery store in the dead of winter with no preconditioning with an average speed of ~40mph gets me like 1.0 mi/kwh (sometimes less). Even going downhill. The return trip is usually 50% higher since the battery and cabin have sufficiently heated up.

My truck reports maybe 120-160 miles at 100% in those times. But I know my actual total range is way higher if I wanted to take a long trip.

Several have said, estimated range is not an indicator of battery health. It’s guessing your range based on recent driving history, temperature accessory usage and so on. Best to ignore it and just use state of charge like a gas gauge in an ice car.

To determine your actual battery, stay of health get an OBD scanner and use an app called torque with the Ford EV PID’s loaded. There is a dedicated high-voltage battery SOH.

Most people have seen very little degradation even over lots of mileage and DC fast charging. Ford put a huge buffer in for protection so the batteries don’t get charged fully even at 100%.

I never trust the range estimator, at all. I use data and a calculator. A ball park calc from the data below yields 2 x 98 = 196 miles. The estimator on the Ford Pass App says 236 miles. I'm pretty sure that won't happen. The most optimistic calc would be 2.13 x 98.59 = 210 miles. The Ford estimator thinks I'm getting 2.39 mi/kwh. That my be accurate for around town & moderate highway driving but when range matters to me, I'm on the interstate. And it's not 2.39.

I just wish we can turn off the miles indicator and just show SoC %. I did that in my model y early on and it cured my range anxiety.

56k miles on my SR and I pay no mind to how many miles it says. SOC %, average trip efficiency and a little maths is the way.

When you get into your truck, if you aren’t driving more than 150 that day, just put a piece of cardboard over that side of the cluster and enjoy your awesome ride.
I'm at 72k and I prefer the "Calm" screen ;)

Going to spring an anecdote on you. I live in Glendale AZ so my range is usually pretty consistent year round. At 90 percent my guess o meter usually sits between 210-220 on my XLT SR. A few months ago it started dropping drastically over the course of a week or two. We don't really get winters here so I started getting concerned. Eventually mine started reading 175 at 90 percent with no changes to my driving habits

2 days later my power availability dropped to 53 percent and turns out battery pack 7 failed and needed to get replaced. I'm not saying this is your case but that was my experience.

Estimated mileage has nothing to do with actual. Driving habits, speed, wind, temp, and elevation do.
A bad cell won't typically manifest as decreased estimated mileage- it will likely manifest first as rapidly changing estimated during a drive, less available power, or decreased battery charge with no events.

Did you take an interstate road trip recently, something different in your normal routine?
