Homelink charges a licensing fee to the manufactures. It might be a $20 part, but the licensing fee might be another $50. That’s why Tesla removed it from the Model 3 and Model Y. It will cost you $300 to add it to those vehicles. Maybe ford wil offer some type of aftermarket or dealer installed option for a similar price on the XLT trim.
My 23k Honda Civic Si has it. Lol at manufacturers not including it on 60K vehicles for any reason. It was a very nice feature. Wife’s 33K wrangler has it as well and it works great. So much nicer than my new Kia Niro that does not. Stuck with the old opener rattling around in my sun glass cubby.

To be fair, as someone who has never had a garage, that extra bump on the visor always seemed a little annoying to me. Much rather not have it.
Fair enough! :)

Just make homelink $100 option and allow us to choose. I use homelink multiple times a day, not having as an option on an xlt means I won't be getting a truck if a lariat is not available.

Same - I got the top trim Niro EV home and was like, where is the homelink. That, the bizzarly loud reverse sounder, and the lack of 360deg camera the Telluride has make me glad I leased it.

If it's true that Homelink isn't available on the XLT, because everybody is guessing at this point because an order guide isn't out, it isn't available on the ICE XLT truck either.
My list is basically built off of the understanding that the first time it is indicated in the pricing survey is the first time it is included which seems generally true if not universally. The term "universal garage door opener" is indicated in the base Lariat, which I assume to be homelink.

I'm just going to stick with the XLT premium. I don't like leather seats or the 15 inch tablet. The only other options I would like to see is the sun roof, power up/down tailgate and power sliding cab window. I have never used homelink with any of my 3 garaged cars/trucks. We prefer to use an encrypted garage door opener. Tiny, tucks away out of site and can be moved from car to car as needed.

It is Homelink. And the ICE F-150 doesn't have it until Lariat MID. So not having it on Lightning XLT is not out of the norm for Ford.

And nothing is set in stone until the order guide comes out.

I have homelink on my 2011 audi q5. Audi does it so if the car is not on, the opener does not work which is great for security as someone can't just break the window and open the door. Lexus on the other hand works even with the car off.
I prefer having the homelink as you never have to search for the remote of have it cluttering up a space.

I just clip it to the sun visor. Nothing to hunt for and nothing to rattle.
Mine rattled on the visor in my last car ?. Plus as mentioned the bump down is obnoxious and I don’t want it flipped to where it’s very obvious what I have there.

To bring this back on topic... I have been thinking about OP's thoughts on XLT prem vs Lariat. My preference would be cloth seats and the smaller screen with physical buttons, but when it comes time to order, if the XLT isnt available... I may actually consider the extra $$$ for a Lariat. I mean, if that's the tax to get into a Lightning, there are some cool features you're getting in return, and I'd much rather do that than find an XLT with ADM for the same price.

They're just so expensive tho... It's at the edge of my budget already.

I hear ya, which is why I gave a thumbs up. These awesome trucks keep getting better tech and the increases prices are definitely reflecting that. I myself got excited while watching the reveal and put a reservation in at reveal. Being a ford man, I'm gonna bite the bullet and chase the lariat since I've owned several xlt's over the years and want to try to keep this next truck for a while and can't deny that a Lariat trim just appeals to me, especially if I'm having to order it the way I think I want. Like everyone else, just patiently waiting to see if I get an email about the next step. This is exiting. Hope you get what you want.
Cheers.

I want a truck for the long haul as well but these batteries are so expensive to replace that you almost have to scrap the car if it needs done. See the guy blowing up his 9 year old model S instead of paying 22k to fix it lol. I commute some long miles on 6 day work weeks and buying a lariat worries me a little for long term investment.

I too commute daily back and forth to work (100 miles daily; 500 miles a week). The price increases of these truck just seem nuts these days. My grandad's '79 f150 xlt was 5k new and I remember how proud he was to buy new, but thought that was expensive back then. I had a '19 tesla model 3 with 218 miles of range abd found during cold weather that just wasn't enough as I had to stop at a supercharger to charge just to make it back home. The battery range on those taught me alot about what to account for in worse case weather senarios. I need at least 300 miles to make it back home after gearing to work and running errands around town and to get back home. The battery will deplete faster in cold weather. My car got 180 miles of range in cold weather. Time spent at chargers will add up and if a person is on a schedule, it adds up sitting at a charger knowing that if I had 70 more miles of range, I could have made it home and plugged in to charge cheaper. Thats just my situation. Plus the added features the lariat provides, I'm gonna get what I want and just love it and not regret thinking what I could have had if I didn't get it. I don't like the price increase this includes but do want to enjoy what I end up with. The tesla tought me alot about what I want and need in the f150 I'm seeking...patiently...
Happy New Year to all future lightning owners! We will be quite a club.
