Not really, they are a business. Imagine if I told you you couldn’t advertise your house that’s for sale.
I don't think this analogy works that well. Nobody is saying Ford can't advertise. Nobody is saying that Ford can't hype up the new lightning. They have been sending me spam like crazy for months.
My criticism is how they have communicated . First they told us orders would begin in fall of 2021. That was delayed. Then they email everyone to say that orders would begin at the beginning of the new year. But if they failed to mention that the orders would be limited to a tiny tiny fraction of influencers, that's kind of a jerk move, in my opinion. Not anything similar to being able to advertise your house that's for sale.

Ford said orders would begin in January in Waves. They never said those who reserved May 19th will be the first to order. Maybe Wave 1 is the actual dealers ordering their Demos? Who knows.

And if everything was perfect we wouldn’t actually know when Fleet or retail would begin ordering. The only reason we know is because of leaked dealer memos and documents.

check out this video he tells the truth on pricing for dealers.

He talks about it at 135:34

His response was "
Sorry I cannot view the videos, there's a firewall here on the computer.

Unfortunately I cannot make any adjustments to the $6,000 Pro & XLT and $10,000 Lariat & Platinum mark-ups."

There were several other by people who contacted Ford who were unable to help. Ford can't make a dealer sell at a specific price. All Ford offered some people in this situation was help switching dealers after their vehicle had been delivered with a surprise markup.
I believe those people didn’t have any documentation of their original pricing makeup or didn’t pay attention to the “Adjustment to MSRP” line.
Some people also contacted Ford to try to get ADM removed from cars in dealer stock - obviously that didn’t work.
Ford is not trying to make the dealer sell at a specific price, only to make them honor an originally agreed upon price.

I'm starting to hear rumors that Wave 1 is only for non reservation holders ie You tubers, Instagramers

I seriously doubt that. Most OEMs create press fleets for reviewers (including You Tubers, Instagrammers and other credentialed members of the press) to review vehicles. This way, the OEMs control the configuration of the vehicles and can make sure that reviewers are reviewing vehicles with similar features. And, most press vehicles that I have seen in the US have manufacturer license plates rather than normal civilian plates.

I would expect the Press Fleet to be in the same category as dealer mannequins. I also expect that there will also be an internal Ford fleet for executives as well. This should all be separate from the Wave 1 ordering for reservation holders.

If it doesn't bother you, that's totally fine. Everyone can feel how they feel. But Ford is the one who decided to include everyone on the email with the subject "Ordering opens soon for the F-150 lightning truck" and then go on to say "Orders start at the beginning of the new year." They go on to explain that "many of you" won't get the 2022 lightning and they explain ordering will proceed in waves. But if wave 1 really is just influencers and a few random people, that is irritating to me. Doesn't mean it has to be irritating to you. All of the media has been focused on how they are increasing production and pulling out all the stops, etc, but it would be nice if they just simply explained that early ordering was going to be limited to just a few customers before main ordering begins later.

Honestly, I am just happy the build and price is up. If I ordered today or 4 weeks from now delivery would be the same. I mean that’s just my opinion. After Granger posted 1 allocation this wave I figured it would be Mid-end of February before I got my order in, and I’m #4 at the dealership with a Reservation before the event started.

The dealers I worked with all said they had 1 order in wave one, and they were actual buyers, not demos. I’d be surprised if that were the case

I admire your optimism. But my past experience with Ford would suggest that this type of roll out will domino through delivery. A few people will get a truck in the summer, but most '22 trucks will be late in the year, and of course the huge majority will be '23

wave 1 is doing nothing more then testing the system with a small number of orders. That way Ford can work out the kinks before they add more orders.

Ford along with the dealers. Some options you cant add via online, and the dealer will need to do it manually.

I've said it before on here that Job1 is slated for April. That is what we've been told at the plant. It cloud have changed. We're not always up to date on everything.
Thanks! I just wanted to know who said it, and that makes sense. Half the news comes from my dealer's uncle's brother's mailman's milkman's cousin's dog walker, ya know? People even today are being misled by dealers regarding timeline, so I wanted to make sure it wasn't hearsay. Hype!

Well end of the year might be even better, there might be a cheaper EV that allows me to keep my ICE F-150, who knows.
