As someone in the same boat in Wave 1, with the pick of the litter for trims, I'm now leaning towards Lariat with ER.

- The Chevy announcement today proves we're just under about 2 YEARS out from getting a non-launch edition Silverado (Fall 2023 estimate), with unknown pricing on what the 400 mile trims (definitely not the 40k one)

- $105k for the top trim, but 400 miles. No federal tax, lower Colorado state tax credit

- The Lariat ER comes out to 70k for me in Colorado, pre-tax ($7500 + $2500 state). This is $3k more than an ICE identical equipped Lariat premium PB

- If you go pro, you're stuck with that for at least 2 years, assuming you'd even want the Chevy. I think the Lightning is way nicer looking

- People are hallucinating if they think car prices are going down, or even that the 400 mile work truck will be anywhere near 50k. The 40k figure from Chevy is from a yet-undisclosed work truck trim with unknown standard range miles, at a future delivery date (2024+)

So if you're going to USE the thing, get the trim you want to live in, and with the tax breaks + the timeline of competitors + not even all Lightning orders will be fulfilled in 2 years, and you'll STILL likely get good resale value then.

Lastly, this is my 3rd EV (Leaf --> Model 3 --> Lightning). I just drove 140 miles (75 each way) new year's eve, leaving with 100% trip charge, I got to my destination with 55% battery. I then got stuck 2 miles away for 3 hours after someone wrecked, and it drained my battery to like 48%.

My point is if you're doing the math, I lost roughly HALF my range going up the mountain from the foothills in Colorado at roughly 30 degrees, and the Tesla is more efficient. If you're going to NEVER drive more than 100 miles in the winter, then the standard range is fine
what did you end up getting?

I got the max tow but couldn’t justify the tow tech package for a standard range pro build. Just doesn’t make sense for me.
I wanted 360 cameras, brake controller, and the perimeter lighting package on my Bronco is pretty great for the construction yards.

I thought long and hard about the tow tech package. Was watching all the videos from Long McArthur Ford and the fellow seemed pretty impressed with the Tow Tech.

I don't tow often, but when I do it is nice to have the tow features. I have similar options on my ICE Platinum and use those features a few times a year. I figured I would add it at order, and can always delete it as more info becomes available.

Tow tech is expensive for the 360 cameras, brake controller, and mirror spotlights I wanted, but the brake controller is imperative if I want to use this as my work truck. I don’t tow all the time, but there are times I have to move a dingo or 7K enclosed trailer with brakes.

I'm hoping for an extended range Lariat. It'll be, by far, the most money I've ever spent that's not a house or an education. I still own the only car I've ever purchased brand new, a 2012 Tundra, it's been paid off for 4 years now. I'll likely do the same with the Lariat.

But if a Lariat isn't available, I'm happy to continue driving my Tundra. It only has 67k miles on it anyway.

Correct. In the winter, you wouldn’t make it. Below freezing, you’ll lose roughly 1/3 of your range.

I see about a 15% range reduction from ~75F to ~30F in my Bolt. It might be as much as 1/3rd at 0F but there aren't many places in the US where it's consistently 0F, even in the dead of winter. Most people who live in cold climates should expect a 15-25% reduction in range in the winter months depending on how much heating they use. It's probably not a truck you want to be buying if you live in North Dakota.

Do we want to install a heading pad under the battery so it can stay warm when charging?

I didn't see any compelling reason to get XLT.. I was thinking either PRO and either deal with the manual seats and no cruise controls/lane centering or go Lariat at around $77K.

Yeah, you don't get much for the $13k premium to go to a SR XLT. The biggest benefit is literally the chance to actually get the truck in a somewhat reasonable amount of time. I suspect Pro orders after wave 1 will need to wait well into 2023 to get a delivery.

No, the battery has an integrated heater that runs while charging in cold weather.

Judging by their wording once the 2022 Allotment of trims are sold out they won’t be orderable any longer. You will have to defer to future waves. Anyone who is able to order the pro in the next wave or two should get them this year.

i expect that an aftermarket trailer brake controller can be added.

Won't be to order for a long time unless the catch up for the existing reservation lists.

If I can't order a Pro, then I won't be ordering an F-150 lightning. I want the step up tailgate and bedliner, but not needed if that may slow down delivery. If they say I can keep my reservation and order a Pro later, I may hold the reservation and see, but at that point I'll be looking elsewhere (I have a cybertruck and chevy ev truck order as well).

If they had a reasonable trim level in the 50k range I would entertain it, but the XLT options are not worth it to me.

I have a day 1 reservation but a few hours after the site opened. I would wager I have less than a 50% chance to get a retail Pro allotment.
