What does Max Towing add mechanically to the Lightning?

Max Towing adds extra battery cooling. Since towing causes the battery to heat up more. I don't think there are any other mechanical features of max towing.

The SR battery goes from 5000 pounds towing without max towing to 7700 pounds with max towing. The ER battery goes from 7700 pounds without to 10000 pounds with. (Except Platinum which has slightly less than 10000 pounds of towing.

Yeah same. Let me know what you think. Really wondering that the Pro #'s will be in 2023. Will those of us that (possibly) pass on this wave have first dibs on pros when they open back up for 2023? Or do we just say screw it and get the xlt. I guess it will only become clear what the right decision was a year from now.

It's just silly because why bother calling it a reservation system? If I reserve anything else in the world, whether it's a PlayStation or a personal flight with SpaceX, it doesn't matter if I live in a cave in Peru or Central Florida. My turn in the reservation is my turn.

Having people jump ahead, or having high-output dealerships/states shouldn't matter. If we're talking about general allocation, I get it. But we're not, we're talking about reserved vehicles. It's a bit absurd.

I’ve at least been told verbally they’d honor MSRP, for all that’s worth. I do have the benefit of working for a company that buys a lot of F series trucks every year in multiple states so maybe they’d take that in to consideration and at least use lube after dinner.

I’m still not holding out hope of much being #10 in line. And even with a MME I’m planning on trading in.

I think you will be OK. The word on the Bronco Forum is that Ourisman has no ADM on ordered Broncos. They have a few on their lot with ADM, but most dealers do that.

As others have stated, right now all we know is that it cools better.

I asked Tom Moloughney of InsideEVs to follow-up w/ Ford about more details, and he said he has a question out there. So, hopefully we got some more details soon.

I have it optioned. But, won't be towing; leaving it in there just in case it helps cool the battery better for charging / extreme heat (100+F days).

Lightnings Ordered in Waves #1 - #3 (January, 2022)?

I am having some problems interpreting Ford's estimates of Sales/Orders released in their Annual Earnings Report yesterday.

Engadget noted in the same news story that the total number of EV units sold in the first month of 2022 is 13,169 units.

The Mustang Electric SUV has already booked 2,370 sales for Jan. 2022.

On the other hand, the sought-after F-150 Lightning and the E-Transit van got the remaining share of the pie.

Ford also saw strong interest in its new Transit line of commercial EVs with more than 300 American businesses placing orders for 10,000 vehicles.

There seems to be some mixing of the definition of "Sales" and "Orders". But in the 3rd paragraph above they state that of the total 13,169 Units "Sold" in January, "the sought-after F-150 Lightning and the E-Transit van got the remaining share of the pie" 13,169 - 2,370 = 10,799. Then they state that the E-Transit has 10,000 "Orders" 10,799 -10,000 = 799 Lightning Sales/Orders.

That number seems really low; perhaps the reason they are not crowing about a high conversion rate, as would be expected one month in. In the past, Ford was shouting about lofty Reservations-to-Order Conversion rates for the MME and Bronco at this stage of the process.

Also, looking at out Forum Order list, each Wave-to-Date-Unit Total seems to be dropping by 1/3 or More Each Wave. Either each Wave is smaller or many more reservists are waiting.

I do not know the details of how the additional cooling is achieved. I assume it is a larger battery cooling system with the ability to flow more coolant through the same battery pack. But that is my assumption. I have looked for details on that additional cooling but haven't found anything. We probably need a Ford engineer to supply the details.

I think engadget may have taken some liberty with filling in the blanks. The original ford posting said :
Electrified vehicle sales had their best start ever, with record January sales. Ford electrified vehicle sales in January grew almost 4 times faster than the overall electrified segment. With a total of 13,169 vehicles sold, Ford electrified vehicles were up 167.2 percent, with share up 5.0 points to 10.9 percent of segment.

That is Exactly what was quoted as 13,169. Also, what is Ford's definition of Electrified? On their webpage they include the Hybrids under the Electrified Tab.
