It's been discussed on here before in many random threads. Ford locks your price, rate, and incentives of your order date. So when you go pick up ur car, you have the choice of using the numbers and incentives of purchase date (say rates went down and theres an incentive promotion) or order date (past promotion and higher rates now). It's in the dealers Smart Vincent system. Here's a link where it's discussed, and Tim has also talked about it before in many of his videos.

Only variable is if dealerships try to play with the interest rate number on the back end. Hopefully some of the first lightning customers will give us some feedback on their experiences in the next month so we can get a feel for if dealerships will be giving us a hard time.
That might only be the case for ICE F-150 or other models currently available. As far as I know, there were 0 incentives available for the Lightning. I mean unless they want to tie in the Lightning with all F-150’s which Highly Doubt they will.

Geez ur gonna make me go dig through all of Tim's videos.. lol

Maybe @FordVideoGuy can give us a quick summary of how the order date lock will apply to Lightnings. Tim, say i ordered my lightning 1/6/22, when i go purchase, I have the option of using the interest rate Ford offered on 1/6, correct?

Correct, you can take the incentives for your vin based on order date (1/6) or Sale Date (when you do paperwork once it comes in).

So we can also do PCO and rebates available? Aren’t those Incentives tied to ICE F-150 and usually exclude “Special” Vehicles?

I think a separate thread is in order for incentives at the time of order for the Lightning:unsure:

I think i recall a sheet somewhere way back at the beginning of the year saying that PCO was excluded for Lightnings as well as X-Plan pricing. I'll have to go double check.

Obviously, like you said, there were no rebates out for the Lightning at the time either, so that wouldn't apply. For me, the only thing I really care about is the interest rate lock from Ford Financing, which will probably be a big difference between January and say July when it comes purchase time.

EDIT: Found the link for PCO exclusion:

https://fordauthority.com/2022/01/2...ng-excluded-from-preorder-discount-incentive/

...unless something has changed between now and then, which i doubt being that Lightning is a new model.

Maybe, but when you use your VIN then the incentives are based on your vehicle regardless if it's ICE or Lightning.

I have a VIN for my order from February, I could pull them tomorrow when I get to work.

They haven’t released the Ford Options plan for the Lightning so the 1/6 date is moot. It’s relevant for a straight up loan or lease but Ford’s rates are probably significantly higher than you can get on the open market. Where can you see their historical finance rates?

Ur rate will be locked in from the date u ordered. So whatever ford's interest rate was say 1/6/22, that'll be ur rate (of course if u waluty and your dealer doesn't try to screw u over with some b.s.)
I talked to my dealer about this very subject on Saturday and was advised that is not the case since there are no special finance rates from Ford Credit for Ford Lightnings.

I really hope this isn't going to be a sequel to dealer markups, where each dealer does their own thing. But it's good that this came up. As others mentioned, we really need to get a thread going for this topic as soon as deliveries start rolling in so we can get real world feedback.

Maybe if Tim has some time, he can find out and cover this topic about the Lightning specifically in one of his upcoming video's.

I think the key question is whether or not there is a promotional rate at the time of order and at the time of delivery. So far, unfortunately, there is none. As a result, there is no rate to protect for us, and quite frankly, Ford’s standard rates are typically not that great. My dealer said that they would run me through two local banks that provide very competitive rates (and of course, i will look at my own bank and credit unions).

Mine is still on 6/6/22. Coincidence that a lot of Lariats are going to be built that week of June. I am optimistic that the day will hold for my order. Knowing that the interest rate will change as of this week, I am locked into a favorable interest rate.
Judging though from my experience with my Mach E, were the built date shifted by almost two weeks, I would not be to negative as to why anyone's order is delayed by a week or two or three. I would not even speculate about the trims order down the assembly line. Looking at the drone video during the start of assembly line on 4/26, even the colors of the trucks were not the same coming down the line. So....now can only hope that the dates we got will not shift to the right much.
Let us hope more positive news keep coming from Ford. More HP and Torque and a reasonable range while towing 5000lbs.
My optimism is high. My Mach E taught me that. Good luck with your orders. Waiting to hear from all of you who are getting your Lightnings early.
