Is anyone planning on getting a Ford Protect Extended Service Plan (ESP) or that other stuff they try to get you for like tire protection, paint protection, and etc at F&I?

I did not...I will be getting the ESP from Flood Ford online. Same coverage at much less than your dealership can offer. ESP is not for everyone, but if it is, get it online at Flood or Ziegler....I am sure there may be more.

I went back and forth about getting a service plan for my Mach E last year.

After looking over the specific list of what parts were covered, I realized a ton of the covered items only exist on ICE vehicles. There are far fewer moving parts on EVs, so I felt like I wasn't getting as much value as I would with an ICE vehicle.

Has anybody else noticed how little they cover? There just aren't all that many parts to break down on a Lightning. The stuff that does go bad is typically wear and tear stuff like brakes, tires, etc which typically aren't covered by the standard service plans.

I think the big stuff that I would want covered are the screens and technology in the dash. I suspect those are the types of things most likely to break out of warrant that would cost a lot to fix out of pocket.

Bought the plan on the Mach-E and plan to do the same on the Lightning. I get that the parts list is smaller and the electric drive is already covered longer but still believe there is a good chance something on the truck will go out. Just the short list I've had give out on other cars out of warranty are AC, driver screen, center screen, seat adjustment motor, lumbar support..... Any of these will cost the better part, or more than, the warranty cost and it will help me sleep easier. Just sold a 2019 Mustang Ecoboost Premium 42 month old and 39,000 miles because I was tired of trying to fix, and pay for, out of warranty stuff (got to give Ford corporate credit they called the day after I sold it telling me that they extended the bumper to bumper warranty significantly, which explained purchaser telling me that the car was under warranty which I did not understand).

For me it depends on how much additional coverage, if any on the battery.

I will be buying ESP on mine, there is entirely too much new tech not to and it’s a first year vehicle. I buy the LED and key coverage too, they are cheap. The Lightning might get my money for first day rental as well, although I have my Bronco to drive if it’s down.

ESP from Flood Ford on the Lightning is cheaper than I paid on my Bronco, and that was before the price increase In January 2022. I think the $50 deductible is the sweet spot, I’m assuming the vehicle will have more than 3 but less than 7 covered events. I pulled these numbers on 7/7/2022.

I see that there is a price increase after July 31, 2022. For those of use waiting on our trucks to arrive (already built), I presume that we will be out of luck - just like with the interest rates.

I get it on all my vehicles. I have an awesome dealer and he only charges me $1 over his cost. So it is usually super cheap for me compared to what it normally is.

Bought mine last night and used up all of my Ford Rewards points since it is so difficult to use them on pretty much anything else.

When you only need tire rotation, and maybe brake fluid and coolant flush after many years, why?
All those items are maintenance, not warranty, and not covered under any extended warranty plan.
