I reserved on 5/19, 2 hours into allowing reservations, but of course, ford has NOT contacted me with a wave order...so, I'm assuming I will be SOL on price protection? A 17.5 percent price increase does not sit well with me.
Hopefully you haven't been hoping for the last 15 months that your reservation afforded you anything but a slot to order. You have no price protection as others have stated, you haven't ordered, or even committed to order.

Yes, but....this is no fault of ours. As ford did not allow you to actually place an order or anything...we are stuck waiting for ford to decide when we get the "wave to order". How could you "commit to order"??? You couldn't.

But Ford allowed you to select a dealer, which does affect your ability to place an order or even lobby your selected dealer for higher prioritization. Or switch dealers if you find out your dealer had many ahead of you. So it’s not really on Ford, it’s on your dealer.

My dealer said I was the first one who reserved one at their dealership. Ford is the one who took the reservation and set the "wave of orders"....I put this on FoMoCo.

If you were first and your dealer had any allocation (and I haven’t heard of a dealer with 0 allocation) then your dealer lied to you or prioritized someone higher than you.

The wave orders were based on prioritization set by the dealer, which was confirmed back in Dec. My dealer even called me in Dec to talk about it prior to Wave 1 ordering to confirm I was still interested before they locked their prioritization.

Yup...I would suspect that is probably what happened. My dealer put a friend or family in front of me...

Not surprised by the increase but still kinda bummed. Was looking forward to a "cheap" Base for around town. Went back and looked at my res, got my confirmation email from Ford at 9:33pm, 3 mins after the reveal video started. Haven't heard a peep since then, never got a wave invite. Supposedly my bronco is up for production this month but already been pushed back once. Hopefully Ford will come through at some point.
It’s all dealer allocation. Did you place the reservation with a big volume dealer? It all depends how many orders a dealer got, where they fall with Ford allocation and if your dealer prioritized another customer. Try calling Ford dealers that you’d be willing to drive to (think out of state) and see how many they have and where you might be.

Wait until Ford let’s the dealers reset their order priority list for MY 2023. First hour orders will still be sitting on the sidelines while others get pushed to the front.

Don't give them any ideas. Just kidding, I'm sure they've already thought of this.

As stated in the many other threads unless you have an actual order your price is not protected.
People who were invited to order, but postponed may be *kinda* protected, but I guess the question is "how much?"

I'm HOPING they split the difference, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's something ridiculous like $500 off.

Unfortunately I’d bet you’re closer to right than wrong here.

I'm frankly astounded by how many people on this forum give Ford a pass on the price increases due to the cost of supplies going up. The price increases may be partly because of that, but it seems abundantly clear that this is in response to the insane demand for the lightning. Ford is absolutely crushing it in the net income category even though its revenue has gone down and it treats customers like a necessary evil.

Ford is already collecting way more per vehicle just because everyone is paying sticker or above. Ford already set the lightning at a premium price last year. There is already a huge margin baked in, and this additional increase is gravy. And then they can use the materials costs as cover. But they know they will sell every single lightning they produce at sticker or above.

I don't think there was "a huge margin baked in" to the Pro, but yeah, this increase is about capturing some of the difference between the MSRP and the market value (which is much higher than MSRP) so that they're getting some of the pie that dealers are taking, now. It's only partly about increased costs.

They've seen what Tesla has done: raising prices regardless of whether the price seems right relative to the competition, because with everyone supply constrained, there really IS NO COMPETITION.

"Oh, I don't want a Tesla, I'll buy something else!"

Good luck! Everything else is even more limited supply and marked up, too.

"That's it, I'm not buying a Lightning!"

OK, no one cares. Rivian is a better deal than a high end Lightning, now (IMO), but womp womp, you can't actually get a Rivian, either, so it's a moot point and everything else is a year or more away. And the Hummer is way more expensive and about 20x more embarrassing to be seen in. It's like an Affliction shirt on wheels. And there are 200k people waiting behind you who will buy your Lightning.

There's no real competition. Ford and Tesla (and others) can charge $10k more than they thought they could a year ago and still sell everything. Rising costs are real, but this is more than that. Pro went up almost 20%.

Totally true. I wasn't really even thinking about the Pro specifically with my comment. It does seem like the original pro pricing was done for marketing purposes.

I say different based on how I did research in reserving with a dealer that gets high allocations.

Ford may have taken the reservation but the dealer choice is yours.

My choice of dealers depended on the amount of trucks, fleet, and other specialty vehicles (Raptor, Roush, etc) sold and called many dealer on the first day of launch.

Found one dealer 2 counties away that had the highest number of special order allocations YTD.

I went with the the further dealer as I knew they would get more Lightning allocations.

2nd after launch I placed my reservation.

Sure enough it paid off because my dealer 2 counties away received 50+ Lightning allocations and I was one of them.

Had I chosen my nearby small time dealer who received 3 allocations, I would still be waiting to order.

It's all about the dealer you choose - so choose wisely.
