I was putting it down at first, I convinced myself it was a neat little theft deterrent if you don't already know about it. Then I got bored and tired of waiting for it. Now that's where I throw my keys after I get into the car.

I thought I’d hate the dial until I got my MME. Once I got used to it, I find it very intuitive. A couple things I like about it - very simple to momentarily shift to R and back to D in order to activate the backup camera when pulling into the garage. This is very cumbersome with the Lightning shifter. I also am in the habit of shutting off without bothering to shift to P. The dial doesn’t move, the car simply goes into P. In the Lightning, the big, cheap handle has to mechanically position to P. It just sounds like something is going to break.
It appears this is not the case. The shifter will automatically go to park if shut off and door opened:

i have it set for the time it is shown on the video - 11:58 if you don't see it.

Yup, my salesman showed this to me yesterday. When you stop and open the door, it will go straight to park when the door is opened.

Glad it wasn't just me. I don't have mine yet, but the shifter SOUNDED cheap in all the videos, and the jitteryness of the shifter is very evident in every video that does a demo too. For all the attention that the the work center got as part of the GEN14's, you would think leadership would have had them improve it a LITTLE.

Oh, I know it does it automatically. My point is that the cheap mechanism sounds like it’s falling apart when it shifts itself. With the dial, it doesn’t have to move at all.

I detest the dial in the Mach-e. Its almost impossible to shift to N while driving. My dial has already cracked once when something fell on it. It is so small you have to search for the dang thing.

The shifter gives me somewhere to park my giant paw on long drives. and its quick easy to shift to N. It could have been smaller and shift mechanism could be smoother but its a truck, things are expected to be a bit clunky.

Not a fan of the Tundra drive stalk shifter. Can't tell you how many times I accidentally kicked it out of gear while reaching around.

This is where I really liked Tesla's stalk. It always returns to center. Press up for reverse, down for drive, it immediately returns to center. When driving it won't go to neutral or change direction if about 6 or 7 MPH. It seemed weird in the beginning, but once again it became intuitive and just realized it operated just like my brain thinks.

I don't mind the Shifter, sometimes it's a good place to lay my hand, BUT, I will say that I would like to have the option of 'stowing' the physical shifter, and simply use buttons to put it into Park, or Reverse, or Drive, since that's all there is. That would be an easy add-in since there's room already. You can then use the shifter if you wish, or not.

It should be an easy add-on as it is because under the hood is electronic. There aren't any linkages to figure out or really anything because the entire contraption is basically a dummy setup to hold the unnecessary shifter and work surface.

Eventually I'll figure some way to put something somewhere (might even be a toggle on the dash) that allows me to stuff a bench in the front so I can haul six people around like an actual full sized truck.

Doesn't really seem like it's aimed at "truck guys." To me, modern trucks look like big cars inside. Compared to my '05 RAM the cabin is basically seats and storage with "comfort" features way down the list. Also has a column shifter to make room for the 6th seat in the front...not that it can't also have a floor shifter since that's where my 4wd shifter is.

Do you have the 12" or 15" screen? I have the 12" in an XLT and there's a wonderful button above the screen to activate those cameras easily... if you have the 15", is there a similar button somewhere?

This is one of my wishes for the Ford system to copy our Genesis GV60... when you start driving forward you get a temporary overhead/3D view and the front camera on the screen until you go over like 5mph.

Nope, no dedicated camera button on the larger screen. You can get their via the screen, but it is at least 2 taps.

It is not a smooth action at all, others have noted it too. It is a complete drive by wire system, no real linkages, you would think it would be a bit smoother. I just rarely fold mine down, I figure it only has a very limited life in it.
Agreed. No real reason to lower on a Pro, unless you come up with a way to make/incorporate the work surface. But on the others, I would think limiting the use of the parlor trick to when you really are gonna use it will extend its life and not strand you with a stowed shifter.

No truck yet, comments based on my MME. It has the 15”.
I’m activating the backup camera, not the 360. It does stay on until 5 MPH.
