That is remarkable. My 90% value with my ER is typically 220 miles.
Did you get the 4.1.1 update yet? Mine went from ~200 at 90% to ~260. I suspect the 200 was more accurate though.

Lariat SR with 4k miles. I’m charging it at 90% twice a week with occasional charging at work. It was a deliberate decision to go with SR and no regrets what so ever. I bought it mainly for daily commute and kid duty. It fits the bill perfectly. Ask yourself how often do you drive 200 miles in a day per year? That will help you decide what range best fits your need
That's exactly what my logic was. Then you ask yourself is it (+ the extra upgrades) worth the jump in cost. For me it would've also cost me a NJ credit of $2k(or$4k). I would've only sprung for it if I didn't have the luxury of switching with my wife's car for the days I need to go far, but I couldn't I probably would buy a long trip car for way less than the upgrades.

If you live in a winter climate, and aren't just driving locally, in the dead of winter you're really going to want the ER battery. I am looking around for a new one to grab before year end, and as soon as I see SR I move on. 230 x 65% = 150 miles. Going from 10% to 80% on a trip lowers that to 105. No way I would consider that.

But if you only drive a fraction of that, or live in Florida, it is fine.
This right here... SR battery would serve me just fine for my day to day use. I went ER to maintain the same range possibilities during winter conditions and to give me a boost when I have to tow here and there. There are things like camping and such that I'd love to do with this truck, but even the ER battery isn't going to get me everywhere in that regard. I'll still have to take an ICE -- probably get me that Bronco in the next year or so. Or I'll have to bring a generator with me.

Of course I would love 80 bonus miles. But the reality is 1) It's a lot more expensive for what it is and 2) When I end up needing that extra 80 miles, I'm already driving so much that I'm DC fast charging. It tends to be that I'd make the same number of stops, I'd just charge little longer. Example for a 330 mile trip I regularly make, whether I had 300 mile range or 220 mile range, I'm DCFCing twice.

But the key is that you don't have either 300 or 220 in the winter, not even close.

And, with using 70% of the battery between DC stops, you'd stop an extra time with the SR.

I don't really have a winter here, but sure that affects it.

If you are making such a long drive regularly that you need that many stops, I don't think either lightning is right for you. Stick to the powerboost or an ecoboost with extended tank.

If you are not making that drive regularly, the question becomes is that one extra stop (30-40 min) a few times a year worth the extra 9-19,000? I think the answer is likely no.

Four times a year, five years. 20 extra charging stops. $450-$950 for each extra 40 min of charge time. I'd keep the cash, particularly since I don't plan on owning the 1st gen more than 5 years.

On the Lariat, the ER battery comes as part o the 511a package ($11,500, not a bad value honestly)

- ER Battery + FSCP
- Bluecruise
- Active Park Assist
- PaaK
- Moonroof
- Rear underseat storage
- Power adjustable steering column
- 2nd row heated seats
And the rear lockable storage under the seat is no longer included. It's a separate add-on for the 2023 on the Lariat, even with the 511A package. Shows this to be the case in the order guide and trucks are arriving without it. However the web info and order system still say it's included. Yeah, lots of unhappy customers and Ford isn't fixing it for some reason. Can't easily install after the fact due to needing the locking hardware for the seats and some other stuff. At least there are plenty of aftermarket solutions though, just not quite as multi-functional as the factory one in this case.

That said, the Lariat 511A, while expensive, is probably the sweet spot for the ER battery and all the desirable features. Going platinum is just madness on these. Platinum only gets you slightly better leather on the seats and a small bump in speaker quality with the B&O Unleashed sound system, which is still very much "meh.." At least the 2022 Platinums had options for the ActiveMotion massage seat function and true lay-flat option, both features unavailable on the 2023 due to parts shortages.

XLT ER doesn't provide enough savings, IMO, to justify vs the Lariat... Well, at least not for the 2023 models after the price increases. Only reason to go XLT is if you don't want the moon roof/ glass panels, prefer cloth seats and don't want the CoPilot 360 driver-assist functions.

Exactly, the price increase for an ER vs SR isn't worth it for most folks. Stopping at a DCFC a handful of times a year isn't worth an extra 5 figures in cost.

If you are on the fence with the SR vs ER because of range anxiety...do some research and thinking about how much you will use your truck on a daily basis. >95% of people don't need more than 150 miles (being conservative for people in cold climates) daily.

I am on the flip side with the under seat storage. Would much rather have not had it.

I don't have it, and I can't decide if I want to add something or not. The amount of open space with the seat up is amazing.

That is remarkable. My 90% value with my ER is typically 220 miles.
It's because I drive in bumper to bumper traffic with one occupant, no climate control (other than the windows), no towing, no hauling, no speed over 45MPH and no jack rabbit starts.

Helps that So Cal has the best climate for EVs...

I got my 2022 Platinum at the pre-increase MSRP with no ADM, will be able to utilize the full tax credit, and had nothing removed from the build. If that's madness, I'm all for it ;)

Nah, you're doing it right. If you had to order one now though, would you still choose the platinum at 2023 pricing and missing features?

Fair question, and I'd definitely have to think twice if I were looking at a 2023.

Customers who got delivery in 2022 definitely got lucky. 2022 was something of a sweet spot. For 2023, with the higher MSRP, no tax credit and missing features you're not seeing nearly the same value.
