Dealer is quoting me on a leveling kit for my Platty. When I asked what kit they use, his response was "we use a Ford leveling kit. That way it doesn't mess with the factory warranty". Is there a Ford kit? Anyone have this on their truck. This is the first I have heard of their being a Ford kit.

Ford typically uses Fox products. So I would assume that's what they were talking about. And the BS they gave you about voiding the warranty, is just BS. I would go somewhere else that has honest knowledgeable people.

What’s the price for that?
I’d guess they are talking about installing the Fox coil overs. They are available through FordPerformance

The Ford Performance kit is FOX Coilovers in the front and FOX 2.0 shocks in the rear. Much nicer than a standard hockey puck level but you'll pay for it. Its around $1500 for the kit plus tax and install.

This is the route I was just looking into going. I kept reading that Fox coilovers need to be rebuilt after about 30,000 miles.

My dealership quoted me $800 to install a level kit, so I doubt they were going this route. I did not ask them what the brand of level was.

I won’t know until I get the quote. Another off-road vendor they work with is likely doing the tint, so if dealer is high, I’ll circle back with the outside vendor. The truck will be in their shop anyway. I don’t need Fox Shocks...

I’m curious if the fox coilovers still work in this truck. Versus the 2016.
I ended up putting in rancho quiklift in my 2016 while my Fox were being rebuilt by the factory and tbh I like the rancho better for my everyday driving style.
Always wanted to try bilstein but I couldn’t justify switching it up and the rancho were only suppose to be temporary.
FWIW the 2.0 coilovers got pretty nasty with ~20K miles or less and ~2 years on the truck. But fox said that 2.5 coilovers would fair worse in my climate due to the build materials.
I would install them again, just don’t know the ramifications on my Powerboost yet.

For the "fox 2.5 fairing worse in your climate due to the build materials", is that from salt being used on the roads or another reason?

I live in the PNW and we don't get enough snow to make that a concern. I'm just more or less curious to understand why the 2.5's are lesser quality and what would make them degrade more quickly.

I am sure that the Ford Performance hit is pretty neat, but I just can't see buying a kit that costs more money, will not get the use that it is designed for, and will put my truck down for a short period of time every 20-30K miles for a rebuild. Now, due to the light off-road work the truck will see, maybe you can stretch the rebuild, but still...nope!

Just talked to Fox today and they said they don't have an update on when the 2021 shocks will be ready. He explained that Fox HQ and Ops are moving to their new home in GA, and that the new F150 changes "caught them off guard".

I also asked about the material quality of the 2.5's and he mentioned the steel bodies of the previous gen shocks had a Zinc coating, which didn't due much to alleviate corrosion issues. He also stated that the new shocks they develop will be aluminum body and should not have as many problems. So, maybe they'll be worth the wait.

Would love to know how it caught them by surprise. They own BDS and BDS had the 2021 F150 limited during the fall to create the SEMA truck and design the new Ford lifts.

Fox acquired 'Sport Trucks USA' which includes BDS under their umbrella. Its not like they are under the same roof as Fox HQ, its entirely possible that they don't share ideas or strategies.

Could be, but that would be a very poor way to operate. You purchase other companies who can provide synergies and make you more efficient across all the companies. Not sharing data like that between FOX, BDS, Zone, etc. would be poor business and a waste of time and money.

I'd also like to add that the live valving on the new Raptor is a Fox product. So I'm pretty certain it didn't catch them of guard, as they have likely been very privy to Fords truck development and its associated changes.

I'm sure it was just a BS sales line he was selling me, to get me off the phone!
