Didn't see this issue in the other powertrain malfunction threads so here goes a new one:
I occasionally get this warning in the truck and on the app, but my truck (23 Lariat ER) drives normally with no reduced power. Sometimes the warning light turns off while I'm driving, sometimes it goes off after I turn off the vehicle and come back for the next use. Then it will randomly come on again, maybe on the next drive or a few after. First time it happened I took it to my local dealer, they said it was a software update issue, but now I wonder if that's correct. For now I'm sort of ignoring it, but wondering if/when I'll actually experience the reduced power. Dealer still owes me a second key, so when it comes in I'll again have them try to diagnose. In the meantime I'm going to try and pay closer attention to see if there is a common repeatable trigger for when this happens. Curious if anyone else is experiencing this?

Its not at all correct Call Ford, and open a case with the BEV team, they will see that your dealer (who from reading your posts, sucks) takes care of your issue.

It's bad enough a powertrain failure when you try to start your vehicle and can't go anywhere but it could be positively deadly should it occur while you are driving - report the issue to NHTSA

Definitely will have my dealer look into it, and report to the BEV team also.

Hi there, I'd be happy to look into your Lightning concerns on my end. Will you send us a message with your VIN and dealership info? I can look into things on my end.

Mine is at the dealership today getting a boatload of updates. It has 2 pages of errors on it. Nearly stranded me last night coming back from BWI airport it just shut off with the powertrain failure. Fortunately turning it off and on again allowed me to get home 175 miles away. Good news is I had an 8am appointment setup today for the wiper motor recall and they're keeping the truck overnight to see if they can clear this up.

I think I might also need official Ford help. I just talked to service and they said they have a "Hotline request" in. The advisor said this is serious as it's highly unusual to have to call the Hotline. Apparently my truck is showing an update with no status - they are supposed to be success or fail and it looks like it won't take any new updates. They said they'd be working on it on Saturday but right now my truck is sitting outside doing nothing.

So I got the diagnosis from my dealer, thought I'd share the fix. To recap, I was getting the Powertrain Malfunction warning but truck was operating normally with no reduced power. Dealer technician said it was the gear shifter module causing a false trouble warning and light. Apparently this has happened to some Mach-E vehicles also and there is a new updated part. It's on order, dealer said they'd replace next week, but confirmed the truck is functioning normally otherwise. They did offer to keep the truck there and give me a loaner vehicle if I wanted, but I decided not to since my daily drive is a relatively short non-highway commute. And I really like driving my new Lightning :)

I was having this exact issue of an intermittent powertrain malfunction reduced power warning but with no issues with driving. Took it to the dealer and they said it was the onboard charger giving error codes and that it would continue to operate normally until the parts arrived.

Fast forward to two weeks later when I was stranded 40 miles from home and now the truck has been sitting at the dealer for a week waiting for a full high voltage battery replacement.

Figure at least 3 weeks till those modules come in

Yes, my dealer replaced the gear shift module and did a re-program, and I haven't had the issue since. On my paperwork from the dealer it says:
"Code P0929, pinpoint test e1 no / e2 no / e3 yes / e5 yes says to replace gsm and reprogram"
Hope this helps...
