I was on the phone today with the Lightning department at Ford and was told they weren't even making the Pro model anymore??? I asked, "you mean for the year?" and they replied, "No it's not being made anymore!!!" Anyone else hear anything like this??? So bummed and upset about my reservation that has been in line for almost two years for a Pro..................

Your reservation was not "for a Pro", it is to buy what is currently available when you are invited.

Consumers will no longer be able to buy a 2023 Pro. They are sold out and have been reported as such since last August.

Current reservation holders have no chance of converting that to a Pro. Buy what is available, or forfeit your reservation.

Fleet customers still have the option to buy a Pro.

Ford has made no announcement regarding 2024 Lightning's, but there will be no reservations left so it might be a first come first served.

The 40k Pro was a publicity stunt. Ford had no interest whatsoever in making them. It was only to create headlines / buzz and pump up their stock price. I was ready to buy one for my small business, but even with a day 1 reservation was unable to purchase due to the dealer priority lists that were allowed. With the 20k increase on the base model, I am priced out now. Guess it’s more fossil fuel burners for me !

I was in your shoes. I was told 22 Pro was not available when I was invited on the first round. I was about to cancel my reservation when I realized I already had my $100 deposit back for changing dealers so there was no downside in keeping it. I ended up with a 23 Pro at 22 price. Unfortunately, you don't have that option now. But if you are OK with the current Pro price and if the following is correct, I would go for an XLT, the price difference is not much:

Some of the customer service people don't really know what's up. Ford is still making the Pro, as others have pointed out. It's just sold out for retail customers now. And it may remain that way well into 2024. It seems Ford is reserving all Pro production for fleet orders until they clear that backlog.

If you do have a reservation and are hoping for a Pro, can't make the other models work for you or your budget, you can always hang on and see what happens. They're saying they will cancel and refund all reservations that are not converted to orders by the close of the 2023 model year in August. However they may extend an olive branch so to speak or may lower pricing on the XLT. Ford expressed some concern with their Q1 info that the order conversion rate is much lower than they had hoped/anticipated. They're at least acknowledging that lower trims being sold out and price increases are the primary factors. So we'll see...

Really though, I'd go for the XLT if it's available to you. It's $3500 more and I think it definitely adds that much in value over the Pro.

I have a pro order that is slated for production 5/1 and I have seen others on here that have had pro trim trucks delivered recently. They are building them. Also they are building them for fleet customers. How many will be available for retail for 2024 may not yet be determined but they will probably somewhat base that on how orders go for the remainder of 2023. Everyone with a reservation has until April 24 to place an order and then by the wording on the invitation emails, it appears that later this year orders will be opened for either any remaining 23 capacity or for 2024 orders to the general public. On the other hand, with the additional price increases on the pro, they really are steering retail customers towards XLT or higher. The original difference of $12k wasn't worth it for the equipment. The pro was underpriced compared to the rest of the lineup. Now with less than $5k difference, most people are going to just take the step up considering what you get.

Ya it's coming quickly, but honestly I wish it was coming in the fall because of finances. But it seems like it can be anywhere from about 6 weeks to months and months from production till actual delivery so who knows.

I'll add that a national search shows that there are pros available at dealers as well. However most all are white with little to no options. Mine has both tow tech and max tow.

Thanks for all of the great responses folks!!! I apologize I've been MIA since the busy farm season has begun but I appreciate all of your input... I'm boom or bust for a Pro since I'm a farmer and firefighter and I need those vinyl floors, honestly I don't understand why it isn't an option on all time levels? If Ford really is a blue collar truck company, they should!!!

The Pro is a business/ fleet truck that Ford, for Marketing purposes (sub $40k), offered to consumers.

If you are a Farmer you can go to your local dealer and inquire about buying multiple Pro's for your business (there is a minimum order, 3-5, I forget the exact amount). However, as far as a normal consumer looking to buy a single truck...they are unavailable.

Why are you selling your unicorn?!
Possibly because his $40k unicorn retails for $60k? It's currently the only way to flip/make money on these trucks.
