As it should be since the Ford Charge Station Pro comes with a three-year warranty. (sorry I can't find an easy link to the U.S. version of the warranty but here's the Canadian version):Ford has stated that they will be reimbursing for the cost of the installation.
I recently have been having charging problems with the ford csp. My charger is solid blue and when I plug it into the vehicle, I get the solid amber light on the right of the charger. I tried numerous resets and it will not charge. I looked in my ford pass app and I can see the charging is at a “pause” and I am unable to make any changes or control the csp. I contacted ford customer support and initiated a case on the csp. So after a week or so, my case got escalated and now I’m waiting for ford to send a new replacement csp so I can send the defective unit back. It takes a couple of weeks, but ford is good at honoring a replacement unit for the defective unit.Has anyone else experienced this situation?
The past couple of day's I've noticed this combination of indicator lights, it shows the amber lamp to the right of the pulsing blue while actively charging, once the charging has completed and the EVSE clicks to standby mode the amber light goes out.
The manual points to "Reduced Charging" as the meaning of this code
Interestingly the Fordpass shows a normal rate of charging 16KW is usually what it shows even though the Emporia meter shows a little more.
Emporia Vue2 chart shows customary full charging rate of 17 to 18 KW

I have seen the same issue with my charger as well. It happened a few weeks back after having worked flawlessly since May, 2023.I had slightly different indications with my FCSP. I had the unit installed by an electrician and we left the setting in the csp at 80 amps, 7 on the dial if I remember right. In the Ford Pass app, I set the max charge rate to 48 amps. My reduced rate time starts at 11PM so I rarely stay up to watch, but when I plug the truck in before the charge time, the csp would show the blinking blue light and yellow light to the right. After the truck and csp negotiated for a few seconds, the blue light would go solid, the yellow light would turn off, waiting for the scheduled start time. When the csp started the charge cycle at 11PM, the blue light would flash and the yellow light would turn on again.
That was very consistent. I changed the max charge rate in the software a week ago to 60 amps and have not seen the yellow light when plugging in since. I have not stayed up to see if it comes on when actually charging, I'll have to do that soon I guess.
Software design comment. If the csp is charging at the rate requested in the control software, why does it report its charging at a reduced rate? It is charging at the rate set in the control software just not maximum capability. With that kind of logic, unless it charges at its maximum capability, it will always report reduced rate charging even if I ask for something less.
Just a comment on the lights. In the book, a solid amber light by itself is as you say, however, a solid amber light with a pulsing blue light means the csp is charging at a reduced rate.I have seen the same issue with my charger as well. I did the same reducing the power to 60amps. The full blue light bar returned.
The issue I have seen since is that the Ford App is only reporting 8-9KW charging level. I’m pretty sure at 60amps it should be more like 11KW.
By the way, the book says the blue with yellow right edge light is an ‘undetermined fault’.
Thanks for pointing that out. You are correct.Just a comment on the lights. In the book, a solid amber light by itself is as you say, however, a solid amber light with a pulsing blue light means the csp is charging at a reduced rate.
At least that's what the FCSP installation guide I have says, I don't know if there are newer or older versions of the book and if the software in the unit has changed. I can't find a date on the book. My software version in the csp is: 2.112.91:2.149:1.32:1.53:0.62
I've thought about this point of view as well, but I'd rather have the yellow light just as a quick reminder that I have it dialed down from max, a quick reminder that on the occasional event I need to charge faster, I should dial up the rate via Fordpass, so leave the current indicator method as is.Software design comment. There may be a problem with that thinking. When the unit went to presenting this status light, I had not dialed it down. Neither physically or via the App. It just showed up when charging one day. I reset the systems circuit breaker, but no Joy. That’s when I dialed it down to 60amps. The light went back to being a full blue bar, but as I mentioned earlier I don’t think it’s sending the full 60amps because the App doesn’t show more than 9KW when charging. Isn’t that more like 48?I've thought about this point of view as well, but I'd rather have the yellow light just as a quick reminder that I have it dialed down from max, a quick reminder that on the occasional event I need to charge faster, I should dial up the rate via Fordpass, so leave the current indicator method as is.
Maybe it was a glitch that resolved itself, or not, I don't often derate my FCSP, did so to facilitate experiments for other members. Also the FP app has been performing poorly in sending receiving data updates, and that's part of the problem with the derate lamp being lit. There may be a problem with that thinking. I’m thinking I’ll shut it down tomorrow and reset the dial to 80amps and see what results look like. My Fordpass app under reports the KW rate of charge, while dialed in calling for the full 80 amps aka 19.2 KW, I'm routinely charging at only 17-18KW with the FP app showing 16 to 17 KW, this devaluing could reflect net energy stored in the battery excluding conversion loss.
Gross energy consumption:
9.0 kw = 37.5 amps @ 240v
11.5 kw = 48.0 amps @240v
18.0 kw = 75.0 amps @240v this is typically what my Emporia logs shows
Got my replacement FCSP and installed it yesterday. Charged twice since install and all is well. FCSP works fine and just waiting for updates to it. Packed up the defective unit and just shipped it back via fedex. Thanks FORD!Hopefully the replacement of your faulty FCSP will do the trick.
As a follow-up my yellow light is now gone, apparently I was able to get the Fordpass remote control to push the charging rate back to the maximum 80 amp rating so it's no longer charging at the user requested reduced rate.
What Ford could do would be to make the length of the solid amber bar proportional to the amount the charging rate has been reduced, i.e., you only get a full flashing blue bar at 80 A. At 48 A, the length of the blue bar would 48/80 of the full 80 A blue bar, the rest of the width of the bar would be solid amber, etc. Just change the blue/amber proportions for different <80 A charging values. At a glance, you could see how far off the max rate you are for any charging rate. If you hardware set your FCSP for 60 A, then you'd get the solid blue bar for that length and xx/60 flashing blue proportion when xx is your charging rate reduced from a hardware set max of 60. Probably too complicated for the board OEM and FordPass programmers. Easier to wing it... .I've thought about this point of view as well, but I'd rather have the yellow light just as a quick reminder that I have it dialed down from max, a quick reminder that on the occasional event I need to charge faster, I
