It's in the manual. Page 267 of the 2022 manual. You can also watch videos.
https://www.ford.com/technology/driver-assist-technology/enhanced-active-park-assist/

SWITCHING ACTIVE PARK ASSIST ON AND OFF
Press the parking aid button, then press the active park assist icon on the touchscreen to bring
up full screen notifications. Press the soft keys on the touchscreen to switch between the parallel park in, perpendicular park in, or parallel park out parking modes.

Cancelling Active Park Assist
To cancel parking assistance at any time, shift out of neutral (N).

Note: A tone sounds and a message appears in the information and entertainment display when active park assist finds a suitable parking space.
5. Press and hold the brake pedal.
6. Release the steering wheel and shift into neutral (N).
7. Press and hold the parking aid button.
8. Release the brake pedal to allow your vehicle to park.
Note: You can slow down your vehicle at any time by pressing the brake pedal.

Note:When parking is complete, your vehicle shifts into park (P).

ENTERING A PERPENDICULAR PARKING SPACE
1. Press the parking aid button.
Note: Active park assist does not recognize parking space lines and centers your vehicle between objects.
2. Press the active park assist icon on the touchscreen.
3. Select perpendicular parking.
4. Use the turn signal lever to search for a parking space on the driver or passenger side of your vehicle.
Note: If you do not use the turn signal lever, the system searches for a parking space on the passenger side of your vehicle.
5. Drive your vehicle approximately 3 ft (1 m) away from and perpendicular to the other parked vehicles when searching for a parking space.
Note: A tone sounds and a message appears in the information and entertainment display when active park assist finds a parking space.
6. Press and hold the brake pedal.
7. Release the steering wheel and shift into neutral (N).
8. Press and hold the parking aid button.
9. Release the brake pedal to allow the vehicle to park.
Note: Active park assist backs your vehicle into parking spaces.
Note:Active park assist aligns the front end of your vehicle with the lane side of the object next to it.
Note:When the system detects only one object, it allows enough distance to open the door on either side.
Note: You can slow down your vehicle at any time by pressing the brake pedal.
Note:When parking is complete, your vehicle shifts into park (P).

EXITING A PARKING SPACE
Active park assist only assists leaving parallel parking spaces.
1. Press the parking aid button.
2. Press the active park assist icon on the touchscreen.
3. Select parallel park exit.
4. Use the turn signal to choose the direction to exit the parking space.
5. Press and hold the brake pedal.
6. Release the steering wheel and shift into neutral (N).
7. Release the parking brake.
8. Press and hold the parking aid button.
9. Release the brake pedal to allow your vehicle to move.
Note: After active park assist drives your vehicle to a position where you can exit the parking space in a forward movement, a message appears instructing you to take full control of your vehicle.
10. Take control of your vehicle.
Note: You can slow down your vehicle at any time by pressing the brake pedal.
Thanks, does it really work?

It does, if it's installed (2023's and forward had it deleted).

I don't use it for the following reasons:

- For perpendicular parking, it will park next to a vehicle. I park where there are no vehicles. Therefore, it has no benefit for me.

- For parallel parking, it works well. But you have to follow the steps, and it is slower than me with the 360 degree camera. If the space is too tight, I'm not parking there anyway, because some ass is going to back into me to get out of their space, or clip me with their front end. I'll drive around the corner...

Say what you will about Tesla, but features like Sentry and Camp mode are far from gimmicks, hence the reason for this thread.
Except I never said Sentry Mode was a gimmick.

Camp mode is a gimmick. Turn on your heater and upload a Log burning picture and you are good to go.

Maybe itā€™s time to remind everyone that we are early adopters. And as pointed put In an earlier post Ford is not a software company.

So what does being an early adopter mean. Itā€™s Fordā€˜s second EV and first electric truck. There is going to be a ton of stuff not right. Farley admitted they just threw stuff against the wall to see what would stick. They had no idea of what ev truck buyers would really like/want.

I was Tesla early adopter in 2013 and there were things that they fixed OTA and other things they never got right. In 2016 we bought a new car with no auto rain function because Musk decided they could use cameraā€™s to detect rain. Took them more than a year to OTA deliver a function I paid for at purchase. Iā€™ve owned three MSā€™s (currently a plaid 2021) and auto park has never worked. Doesnā€™t even show up on the screen. Tesla was so proud of adding fart sounds and new a couple of new games years ago but my $150k car still will not part itself. And donā€™t get me started on the pitiful summon feature they claimed would drop us off at the entrance to the mall, go park itself and then come back and pick us up when we were done shopping. Never worked. Tesla told you in no uncertain terms if you did try to use summon or self parking and things went wrong (read hit something), itā€™s all on you. Your fault for trusting a beta feature. Oh yea itā€™s still beta In 2023!

Are there a lot of things Ford needs to fix? Yes. Are they enough for me to want to change to a CT? Not even close. Just watch when we get more CTā€™s on the road. You lose the image on your windshield mounted rear view mirror with the tonneau cover closed. The hard core CT fans sing the praises of a rear camera even though it easily gets covered with dirt, water, and road grime. Another existing Tesla miss on every MS Iā€™ve owned. (But at least I always still had a functional rear view mirror). With the cover closed you lose rear mirror visibility. The side mirrors and cameras are not even close to adequate. A simple washer would have made this a non issue. Tesla completely missed it. The Tesla faithful will be crying by the end of 2024.

My 2018 M3 added dash cam, sentry, dog mode, remote camera viewing, interior camera viewing, driving on city streets, UI updates, 20+ fsd beta updates, FSD visualizations, recognition of driver by phone and a ton of other stuff. Maybe the ā€œChristmas updateā€ will add new features. Being able to set your car temperature or see who/what is in or around your car remotely is not a gimmick. The car had none of those things when I bought it. It hasā€™t delivered on robotaxi but it has gotten closer.
This is EXACTLY what I mean by meaningful updates. I'm hopeful we will see some increased capability over time but I remain quite skeptical.

Mine has park assist, but I can't seem to figure out how it works.
It's a breeze to use and it is AMAZING. Park assist is a life saver for someone whose Lightning does not fit in his garage and he has to park it on Chicago city streets. I have literally fit this truck into parking spots with 2-3 inches left at both ends. The manual tells you how to use it. It is pretty straightforward, though a bit unnerving the first few times you use it.

The GOM seems to be much more accurate when you set a destination in the Ford Navigation app. Without a destination, the GOM can't determine the type of driving you will be doing and makes too many assumptions. I drove nearly 400 km on Saturday including a charging stop and tracked the GOM from start to finish. Its estimate was within a few km. It is useless without a set destination.
On the upside, I get pretty close to the EPA numbers when I drive around town in the summer - sometimes more.
My issue with this is I enjoy android auto way more that the native UX

Definitely waiting for Dog mode.
On my truck I just leave the truck "ON" and consider that Dog Mode, Keep-AC ON mode and Sentry Mode...

Leaving the truck fully ON with the AC set at a comfortable temp, exit and lock the truck. If there is no key present in the vehicle I will not shift out of Park (in case someone broke in). All other systems remain on and the motion alarm is off.

If you will be gone for more than 30 min hit "Settings -> Vehicle" and flip off the "Vehicle Timeout" switch to remain on past 30 min. The 30 min timeout reactivates with each key cycle. You can set the timeout to remember the last setting with ForScan if you prefer it not reset and remain off all the time.

I installed one of those exact fit dash cams with front and rear cameras. it's powered off the review mirror so as long as the truck is ON it's taping.

I shut off AC and put the screen in quiet mode, lights to "OFF" if I just want "Sentry Mode" and no Dog or Keep..

99% of the time I find the Ford way smoother than Tesla's mode approach. I'm usually out running errands with the kids or the pup or both. I just get out and lock the truck, no extra mode to press or think about.

I think you're crazy to park in a space like that. Ferdus, the guy in front of you, is going to back up until he taps you, then pull forward to tap the guy in front, then back again, until he can get out.

My Mach-e has the tiny imprint of a license plate bracket on the rear bumper from Ferdus' cousin, Mayble. I hate her.

What is Forscan? I'm still a newbie to ford stuff.
FORScan is software to hack your truck. It allows you to turn on capabilities that exist in the software, but aren't turned on. Or, conversely to turn them off.

For example, don't want the horn to beep twice when you leave the truck running but get out? FORScan lets you turn that off.

The good news is that you can tweak features. The bad news is that if you mess it up, and can't figure out how to change it back, you could brick your truck.

Crazy, perhaps, but also, in the city, it is often a necessity. Either take the spot you find or keep driving and hoping you find a spot that will fit the truck 4-5 blocks or more away. I don't normally park in spots that small, but when I have, the cars in front of and behind me have had plenty of space to get out by pulling forward or backing up in the opposite direction of my truck. When parking anywhere, we really have no control over how people park around us either, so even if we park in a spot with plenty of space, there is nothing stopping someone else from pulling out and then having someone else park super close to us. We can only control what we do and can't control how others choose to park once we have parked our vehicle and left it.

In talking with my brother he made a good point. If the infotainment is made by a supplier and the app is made by another supplier and the cameras are made by yet another supplier and the data plan is in a different division with their own cost/billing team/manager you get this mess that canā€™t ever move forward. With that in mind what has been done is good. Tesla makes almost all their parts and software themselves. Itā€™s difficult and a hinderance in the beginning but now that they have it itā€™s their key.

One of the reasons Ford is switching to Google OS in the cars in 2025(?)

And, the reason Tesla can offer fart noises. I'm told it's way down Ford's list...

Yes, I hear you. I use Carplay because it is better for navigation but for charging en route, the Ford Navigation App seems to do the job when it is set. I've seen folks on other forums use 3rd party apps with a ODBC II dongle with good success on Carplay and Android Auto. I can't remember what the app was but I think there are several.
