Ford Software Requests for 2024

Its 2024. Let's get serious about making your product competitive and user friendly. Most of the requests are "easy" for a competent person to implement. If you don't have those people, your shareholders and customers suggest you find them. Please.

Requests below reflect the 15" screen and a Lariat ER. May apply to others, don't know, I only own 1 truck.

1. Touchscreen. Make the whole background a uniform color, at least for dark mode. Match it to android auto, or carplay. If carplay is different, give an option to pick the dark color you want. Not hard.

2. Vehicle > Easy Entry / Exit
Divide the menu, 1 for Seat Adjustment, 1 for Steering Wheel.
If given the option, I wouldn't move my seat, just move the wheel up and in. Disabling the Seat Adjustment also disables the wheel.
Bonus points if you can include the sun shade / sunroof opening / closing and then returning to its previous state.

3. Main Screen Climate Button
Do I need 2 of the same function within 6 inches of each other, 1 being a physical button? Not really.
Can we remap the touchscreen climate button to (just spit balling here): A user configurable button, Climate Off, Rear Seat Heat,....

4. Welcome Lighting
I would LOVE a setting between 20 seconds and 2 Minutes! Wishful thinking for a user defined value between 1-120 seconds here? No? How about 15, 30, 60, 120? Maybe survey your users if this a gripe for them?

5. Cameras - Rear view
Remove the FULL VIEW NOT AVAILABLE. I don't know what it is, but the view would be fine without that message in the way. Move it somewhere out of the way if regulations require it.

6. Pro Power
Setting for always on. Not if the car is on, or its unlocked, or im within 30 feet. Just make it a setting and let me toggle it on or off.

7. Remote Start and Frunk Open
Remote start disables when I open the frunk. WHAT THE FRUNK is that logic? No fan blades to eat my fingers under there. Fix this.


Fellow forum members, lets help them make our trucks what we want them to be. Provide examples, try and stay on topic. If you want a Raptor Tremor Lighting, make a different thread. They can't push a software update for that... (can they?)

I could go crazy with what I want them to add, but why bother, it takes them a year to add each little feature. Given their EV ambitions have changed, I doubt that Ford is highly prioritizing adding features to this generation of Lightnings.

With easy entry/exit, there are many times when I want to start the truck without moving the seat or get out for a quick thing without turning it off. Can it be tied to putting the truck in D/R instead of ON/OFF?

GENERATOR MODE: HVAC off, drivetrain disabled, all screens off (wake the center screen with a tap).
CAMP MODE: HVAC on, drivetrain disabled, all screens off (wake center screen with a tap)
PET MODE: HVAC on, drivetrain disabled, display PET MODE on screens
etc...

Ditch the cards and just show a dock bar with the driver's favorite apps and recent apps - much like Tesla's implementation.

#3 is an issue for them reusing this software with the MME that doesn't have any physical buttons. They have plenty of other "if truck, do this, else, do that" logic though, so that should be doable.

My gripe is to stop shutting off the remote start when I open the frunk. That time loading the groceries absolutely helps when cooling things off in the summer.

I’m all about #5 above. That message that the Full View Isn’t Available that stays on forever is real sad statement about your program designers.

Put it up for 5 seconds, if you have to, and take it down. It’s that simple.

#3 is an issue for them reusing this software with the MME that doesn't have any physical buttons. They have plenty of other "if truck, do this, else, do that" logic though, so that should be doable.

I also don't care. They are selling hundreds of thousands of these things... they can figure out how to not reuse a ****ing software icon.

Or, initiate a dealer recall and replace the physical switch with one of the above requests. I'm flexible.

but if we have the ability of multi choice (voter gets to chose 3, or so, most important to them out of all the submissions) poll/vote, maybe organize it so each "suggestion" is it's own post, at the end of January arrange a poll with all the suggestions, leave the poll open for X days and after that Ford has a priority list from it's most enthusiastic customers/users.

The Mach-E has a hardware button for Max defrost. It's by the headlight switch.

And the software isn't the same between them anyway.I can set a one time charge limit in my Lightning. Can't do it in the Mach-E.

Im not sure that it’s actually necessary? I don’t recall a message on any vehicle that allowed me to look rearward. I personally love keeping the rear view on, it’s often more useful than the rear view mirror itself

Speaking of that how about a freaking charge limit. Not a one time charge limit, not a location based charge limit, a charge limit. You want me to only charge to 90% unless I need more immediately but make it impossible to set the truck to do that. 0 out of 10, bad setup.

I forgot about the frunk not closing after the truck gets locked. It pisses me off every time it happens. This is a good one.

I think you may have misunderstood. I want the message to go away, not the camera view.
