So, how will Tesla know I am using an approved adapter? And will we only be able to use Ford's?

Tesla will not know. Until Tesla flips the switch, neither third party nor Ford (if they existed) adapters would work. After Tesla flips the switch, both third party and Ford adapters should work.

At least that's the way it looks right now. The adapters don't contain any electronics; they're just a physical wiring adapter so they're invisible to both the truck and the charger.

Yeah, so in theory, I can try my 80 kW rated adapter once tesla throws the switch. Do you think it would melt? This could be a major problem.

You don't have an 80 kW rated adaptor. You probably have an 80 amp rated adaptor, and it's only good for level 2, not the Supercharger.

You are confusing the answers. You ask about the SC adapter then associate that with your 80A L2 adapter.
You can’t use your existing adapter on a SC. The internal wiring is different between the adapter styles. And your current adapter doesn’t even have the DC pins to start with.

I could do a dozen memberships and save a few cents....but the ease of use with the Ford Charge network is well worth paying a little more. I love just plugging in and charging and watching YouTube. Having to keep track of credit cards for each one and the quirks of their apps, is just not worth it to me.

yes, love my Ford Pass App for activating and charging at all sorts of brands and styles of chargers... hopefully eventually ALL chargers, and now Superchargers.

It doesn't hurt my feelings one bit to be able to activate a charger AS I am pulling in, rather than even having to wait to plug in... Ford's billing works, and Ford's emailed receipt works perfectly.

Thank you Ford for your BlueOval charging network app, activation, and all-in-one-place billing.
