I think if you have the Tesla app already, because you own a Tesla as well, you will be able to use that and won't need the FordPass for the Tesla chargers.
That's the way it worked at one of the Tesla chargers that had their adapter built in.
Having a Tesla has nothing to do with having access to Magic Dock or other chargers. Some do and that is OK, but anyone can download the Tesla app, create an account if necessary and then find the page for Charging your non Tesla. You can do that today.

Yes, you're right, I didn't mean to imply you had to be a Tesla owner now to use the Tesla app.
I guess I assumed non-Tesla owners would be less likely to already have the app, that's all I meant.

Who would I ask? The dealer?
The dealer ---might--- have advance information just before they are planning to announce how these will be distributed, but IMHO, they won't be the conduit, it'll be via corporate channels and blitz media release.

The dealers don't even get advanced notice of rebates. I doubt they'll know anything about adaptors.

The dealer may not get notice, but I bet the 1st place we see an adaptor is when A new EV arrives at the dealer with one included. Shortly after that, the dealer should receive one for every unsold VIN on their lot, and after the unsold EVs have adapters, we will start getting adapters, but I expect it will take months for all of us to get our adapter AFTER we see the 1st ones being delivered with new EVs.

Yesterday I spoke with the parts mgr at my Ford dealer. He said Ford will mail the Tesla adapters directly to owners, not through dealers.

I will say I noticed a change to the Tesla app last time I opened it up
It no longer says "charge your non tesla". Just says charge your EV. And while all magic dock stations are orange, it did allow me to open up regular superchargers as well. Wonder if this is all preparation for opening up the network as planned.

Interesting. Somebody who’s purchased an adapter should give it a try.

I am not a Tesla owner. But I have experimented with the app. I see what your saying in that it now shows "Charge your EV". However on the map, it only shows the MagicDock near me and none of the SC's. Just shows the Level 2 Destination Chargers. You sure it's showing actual SC's on your app? I am on iOS.

I put my F150 Lightning as my vehicle and it only shows Level 1 and 2 plus Magic Docks. Nothing else shows up as available.

Unless Tesla activates charging for our vehicles by VIN, we will probably be stuck with Blue Oval Charge Network activation. At least until Tesla opens up the SuperChargers up for everyone. They said they would open it up in stages, in the order the automakers made agreements with Tesla. I don't think just having an adaptor and the Tesla app is going to cut it in the beginning.
