So I have an A2Z adapter and went to a Tesla charger for the first time to see if it would work. It's a bit fiddly to attach, but eventually I got it plugged into the car and it started charging with the blue lights. In a minute or so, the lights turned to red and on the dash it said there was a charge fault. Any idea what this means? I don't have trouble charging at home (Ford unite) or the office (level 2). Thanks.

Did you rely on the plug and charge? Try initiating the session on the tesla app.

Yes, I did plug and charge. I'll go back tomorrow and try the Tesla app. Good thought.

The truck will give a charge station fault if you connect, and communicate with the charger (blue lights as you mentioned) but does not receive a charge. It times out and throws a fault, maybe around 30 seconds after. Start the charge with the tesla app and youll be good to go, atleast until you get the plug and charge update.

You might edit your title (can do so by editing your 1st post). It was not a Ground fault but a Charge fault. I saw your title and thought "what the heck? How is that possible!! "

Did you make sure that station is open to Ford vehicles? Not all V3 chargers are able to charge non-Tesla vehicles.

So I went back and tried the Tesla app and just recapitulated the events of plug and charge.

I assume that you have tried a non tesla level 3 charger just to ensure your truck will dcfc?

Yes. Could be the adapter or the station. Will try another station

Iā€™ve used mine on multiple stations with no issues yet.

1) does your lightning have the plug and charge update?
2) if not, did you use the tesla app?
3) did you ā€˜lockā€™ the tesla adapter by moving the lock underneath the adapter towards you/cable?
4) make sure the cable is not tugging and therefore not having a good level connection. (Someone stated that they had this issue so they moved closer and it fixed it)

1. No not yet, though when you look under chargers on the Ford Pass app EA and Tesla are listed.
2. Yes, I tried the Tesla App, same result.
3. The A2Z is a bit fiddly to lock but I'm pretty sure I had it locked as if not locked you can pull it off easily. If locked you can't.
4. Yes there is some tension on the cable and that could be an issue. I'll try pulling in sideways to see if that works.

Thanks for the thoughts and suggestions.
