I have had no accidents or tickets but in the past year my insurance has increased by 25% for cars with depreciated value in that period. When I ask my insurance company if they are collecting personal data on me from third party, they say no, it just costs more to deal with claims. I live in Maryland and I understand circumstances are different in different areas and for different people but I am still curious what has been your experience in the past year?

I was curious so looked up my payment history. I just renewed my 6 month policy last month and had a 13% decrease period over period. Sorry to buck the trend, yall.

Increase over 25% for me in Northern Virginia. Seems to be a national trend.

Too much!! Although I found my total premium was slightly less if I added an old beater car with minimal coverage. Multi-vehicle discount.
I do drive that car once in awhile but even if it just sat in my backyard I guess it would be worth it?

I was with Geico, this last renewal I got a notice saying my rates were going to increase by over 100%! You read it right, my insurance was going to double.

No new claims, accidents, etc. safe driver discounts,

I ended up switching back to the company I used prior which was about 10% higher than what I was paying the past year with geico.

I am with Geico as well. I just hate shopping for insurance but I may have to do it. Insurance should be a non profit service. They don't produce anything. I know it is not all their fault. $2000 for a taillight is absolutely ridiculous. $40K for a Rivian fender bender? I bought my first car for $300

I had geico and was getting an increase before I got the Lightning, switched to Progressive for everything. It's annoying to do but I think a lot of insurance companies raise the rates cause they expect people to be too lazy to switch.

And they keep their initial quotes lower to snatch new customers. Then they raise your rate once they get you. Your old company won't lower your rate for three years so you have to have a couple of them lined up to circulate. It is a pain.

Yup, I have to do the same thing with Comcast too. As far as Comcast knows, my wife and I get divorced alot and keep switching who can stay in the house

Same here. Geico last year wanted a huge increase. Shopped around and traded in the Gecko for Flo.

What’s your liability if I may ask. I live in WA and have historically had very low rates. They did jump this year a bit, but I also increased my liability a bunch
