Anyone else get this? I’ve been getting it awhile now and it occurs about 50% of the time I go in reverse. I don’t really notice a difference in backing up.

from Page 242:

SWITCHING REVERSE BRAKING ASSIST ON AND OFF - VEHICLES WITH: 15 INCH SCREEN 1. Access the vehicle drawer on the touchscreen. 2. Press SETTINGS. 3. Press Driver Assistance. 4. Switch Reverse Brake Assist on or off.

Note: The system is unavailable when the rear parking aid, cross traffic alert or traction control is off.

Note: If your vehicle is not equipped with cross traffic alert the reverse braking assist relies on input from the rear parking aid and rear camera sensors. Note: The default setting is on in some regions.

Brake Assist....

Wait for the vehicle to finish booting up before shifting to reverse...

No I have a car wash pass and wash it regularly. Also just washed it yesterday as well.

Interesting.. so maybe I'm putting it into reverse too soon? I could see that.

Absolutely.

Yesterday, I noticed two separate occasions where it happened after I stopped somewhere (i.e. gas station), put it in park but didn't turn off the vehicle. Soon as I put it in reverse I got the alert.

This happens to me every single morning now. But I feel like I never saw the message before. I don't have any issues with my parking sensors or rear camera though. So I don't feel like its a hardware issue.

How long should I wait before I unlock and having the system booted up? I usually just jump in and reverse, but the backup camera / sensors don't seem to complain.

I have the 12" screen. But I don't ever recall turning this on or off anywhere. Just never saw the warning messages before.

After reading more on it, I don’t believe it has anything to do with how fast you put it in reverse on startup.
I read somewhere (Reddit I think) that updates can cause it. The fix I seen was to drive on a straight road for 5 mins over 18mph. it’s supposed to recalibrate it. I’m not near any road that is straight enough to see if that would work.

I had my 30k mile maintenance recently and I mentioned it to them. They didn’t specifically say if they fixed it but I don’t recall seeing it since.
