Is there a way to keep the truck in Sport Mode 100% unless I turn it off? It's annoying to have to set in Sport mode every time I get in the truck.
Every now and then, send a request on the feedback widget.

How is it that my Mach-e can stay in unbridled (sport mode) but not my Lightning?
Because your Mach-E doesn’t have an Off-Road mode that turns off stability control. That was the problem on the Lightning. NHTSA rules require that stability control has to turn on with each key cycle so the truck can’t be left in Off-Road. Hopefully they will release a version that allows you to choose between Normal and Sport as the default and only have to confirm in Off-Road.

My guess is that it has more regen than normal mode. If you're in sport mode at highway speeds and take your foot off the gas, the truck slows down much more aggressively compared to normal mode.

Short mode has more aggressive brake re-gen, so it is possible

the regen is more aggressive so that may be a factor. I think all sport mode does is adjust throttle response so if you still drive conservatively, you certainly could achieve better efficiency.

I’m in sport mode all the time, but having to press ok on each start cycle is ridiculous in order to stay in the street driving mode of my personal choice. I can find no federal rule or regulation otherwise dictating this requirement to default back to normal mode…period on each ignition cycle btw.

Sport mode changes throttle response and steering feedback.

You will find it can be as efficient as normal mode if you modulate the throttle properly.
Also has more aggressive regen-braking which can contribue to better efficiency.

Ok thanks for that, so it’s a fixable software item, Ford it seems just took the fast easiest blanket approach method. Driver profile setting method would be great idea. Definitely fixable ithen without breaking bad it appears then.

The downside to agile software development. Move fast and break things is OK for social media, not so much for safety critical systems.

Because it’s taking max regen from you before you have a chance to step on the brake. If you’re a late braker, you’ll see an improvement. If you are a slow coaster to stop lights, you’re already likely getting max regen.

It's still a problem because too many people blame users for being too lazy. I've complained and been met with responses like "what's 3-4 pecks on a screen every time you start your truck? I mean what's the big deal?" Or... "Why not just pay attention to your dash so you can press resume? How hard is it to press ONE button?"

I literally stopped using sport mode altogether because it really is a pain to go through that process every time I started the truck. It's absurd anyone thinks the drive mode resetting on every start up should be acceptable. Until people clamor enough Ford will do nothing to fix it.
