Some class act with an unsecured load lost his tool box in front of me going about 70 on the highway. I managed to not hit the box but a can of spray foam when right under the front wheel. The can exploded. I thought it was spray paint. The guy diched to an exit. I had a moment of clarity and realized it was an unsafe move to exit and even if I got behind him, this is how bad stuff happens. I went to the next exit and my heart sank when I realized it was worse than paint. There was heavy rain, so I thought maybe that would help if I got to cleaning quickly. No luck. This stuff was dried and stuck to everything.

I’ll spare the story of how I located the guy, but he’s a scumbag. I’m just going to open an insurance claim and let them handle it. My main concern was if there was a future issue with a battery pack component and they found it was caused by this foam incident and didn't make the claim that I could be stuck.

I’ll keep you guys posted how the remediation goes.

What a miserable experience. I had a go around (not with vehicles) with spray foam last summer. That stuff is ridiculous to clean...especially out of your hair...or so I'm told.

I feel your pain. After a very minor accident and a no witnesses………..I installed a two way cam that records out front and back at same time. Stores on a 128GB card. It’s very hard to argue with video…………… takes great shots of license plates.

I think this will finally motivate me to get a dash cam. It’s overdue.

I can't imagine it harms the battery since it is well sealed. A good detailer will get that right off, you can do it yourself but it is probably better to let the pros deal with the solvents involved. You will probably need to re-apply any wax, make that part of the bid.

If the guy is a jerk, the state police would probably be interested, it is quite illegal to have stuff bounce out of your truck. If he had hurt you he would be looking at solid jail time.

FS: 2023 Lariat ER Star White w/ optional underbody spray foam. For those who are not familiar the underbody spray foam helps with increase noise reduction, making a perfect compliment to the extended range battery for long road trips.

As an additional bonus, the foam helps insulate the battery pack from outside temperature fluctuations, ensuring you consistently achieve the range and charging speeds you are expecting regardless of whether it is hot or cold.

The unique way in which the foam was applied was specially curated to allow for the reduction of drag. Lifting the airflow and separating it from the vehicle in key areas to allow for just slightly more range than a standard Lightning.

Asking price: $95,000. Free nationwide shipping and a $7,500 rebate if purchased within the next 7 days.

I'm selling a very lightly used one, mint condition, forward facing. It's the fitcam 4k custom one that is meant for the f150 platform that lives behind the mirror. I had it in my lightning for a few weeks, works great! Comes with unused 128gb SD card. Let me know if you're interested!

EDIT: added the ebay listing I had up - but I will give a discount for forum members. $100 bucks.

That spray foam will be difficult to remove

On a side note, I was driving on the expressway yesterday when a stone bounced and dinged my windshield. First defect on my 6 month old Lightning. Have it scheduled for repair on Monday.

Would you mind sharing details on the cam you installed? Appreciated...

I installed the Fitcamx. 4K front cam + 1080 P rear cam. Works great. Was pretty easy to instal, only took about 20 min. Some say they have trouble with the loop recording, but I just logged into unit at startup and set things the way I wanted. I was trying to make it like my Garmin GPS drive 50, used that in my work car.

While not a can of foam, I rolled over a rubber mallet on the highway that had jumped out of a bed. I only saw it at the last momemnt (gray mallet, gray road). It bounced hard off the bash plates and went flying through the air behind me. Luckily I was alone on this stretch of road because that could kill someone if they had been behind me. It did continue into the shoulder so no concerns about someone else hitting it. I took a look for damage and didn't find anything in the wheel well or on the bash plates. Good design I guess, I could only imagine how awful it would have been if it had someone punched through and started a fire.
