I wanted to mention, that we've done extensive studies about when it's best to use departure time to pre-condition the battery, in my situation daily local driving only requires charging once a week during mild season, in the winter I might continue this m/o unless I start getting really low by mid week.

Heating the battery is most important for charging, if you can get a round trip completed and recharge the battery daily while parked in your heated garage, you might do well enough, but the truck will decide if warming the battery is necessary even at the end of a cold day.

On the other hand, if you're squeezing a substantial portion of your SOC in a daily drive cycle, there might be some value to warming the battery and mid trip charging is needed, but if it's parked in 65 degree garage for 10-12 hours, the garage heat should be sufficient, the truck will decide if the PTC needs to warm up the pack while charging.

I started doing it with MachE so it would retain full power available when it started gettting below 65f and it would pull max available power. Preconditioning kept the pack warmer so the full strength was available for longer.
I still jump in the truck for deliveries throughout the day so I figured keeping it warm was a good idea for max available power etc. Although I haven’t seen F150 pull max power from temps yet, it still is nice to have it all warmed up and ready in the morning.

Those are valid points, if it makes the fun [ride & performance] optimized for your needs, it's no worse than the $17 a gallon fuel I put in the Destroyer race bike.

So to update and to make things weird. After the time change the truck did… Nothing this morning it didn’t precondition early or at all (which it usually does precondition).
So I am starting to think it may just be a bug in the app or server side time offset or related to DST changes.
The app was stuck on saying its next departure time was 8:15am Sunday even though it was 9:14am Sunday for a few refreshes before it caught up and jumped to Monday now.
I reported the issue in the “submit feedback” part in the app hopefully they figure it out.

Once the schedule is saved to the truck, the app has nothing to do with the process. Your truck isn't getting a signal from an external server to start preconditioning. It's all internal to the vehicle.

I agree with all said above, but have experienced events where departure timer did not do it's task.

Not sure why it failed, I figured lack of cloud communication is part of the problem, but my suspicion could be wrong.

It failed for the same reason that sometimes our trucks don't wake to initiate a scheduled charge. Because Ford can't do software.
