I’m curious to know how things went with the install of the Ford Home Charging Station for others here in the forum. I purchased my extended range Lightning 3 weeks ago. I received an email request for pictures and other details about my home electrical circuits which i promptly sent back. “QMERIT” is the name of the company managing the installation - from information from me to supposedly assigning my job to an electrician. I have sent one follow-up email asking about the project. The reply was “the project is being assigned”. Should I expect not to hear anything for a while?

QMERIT is new to the scene as the recommended installer.

I have not read much feedback from other members about the timing of their process, continue documenting your experiences on this thread, it'll be a guide wire for future installs.

Welcome to the forum!!

Those with Chevy Bolts will know Qmerit well. Personally, I had no issue with how Qmerit handled the installation of the EVSE circuit for my Bolt. Others have had issues. Will be interesting to see how Qmerit handle's Ford EVSE installss.

10/28: Purchased Lightning

11/1: Qmerit reached out to me and I told them what I wanted done and provided some pictures

11/1: A company was assigned to complete the installation which was HILSCHER-CLARKE ELECTRIC.

11/4: Qmerit provided me with a quote to approve. In my case, the project was a standard installation under Ford’s Power Promise; therefore, the quote was zero dollars.

11/5: Picked up the ford charger at the dealership.

11/14: HILSCHER-CLARKE ELECTRIC reached out to me about an appointment. The appointment was scheduled for 11/26. Qmerit followed up.

11/26: Two electricians arrived exactly on time and the install was complete in 2.5 hours.

11/27: Qmerit reached out to me providing a warranty for their installation work.

I used Qmerit for my install before Ford started using them, based on @tommolog recommendation. Timeline was very similar to @150Flash, paid $900 to have it installed ~5ft and opposite side of the wall from breaker box. They had to come out twice, as SunRun was unable to ship my FCSP on time. So they did most of the work, then came back out when it arrived to finish. Was very happy with the communication from all involved and will likely re-use them to install an additional outlet for the wife's PHEV.

QMERIT farms out the install they are just a third party who handles the sub contracting work to a local electrician/company. With that said the qmerit folks were great and very responsive. Have nothing bad to say. The sub they got was very good too. They were timely. They did fail the inspection and had to come back after a few weeks to work with the items the county inspector dinged them on. Again though, based off my experience, they handled all comms and kept me posted. No complaints at all. I had a basic install and did not go all in with the 80amp as it was going to add sub pan and I felt the $ of doing it was too high and the 48amp they put in was fine for my use. Good luck !

I also leased my Lightning 3 weeks ago and on a similar timeline to you. Mine was assigned last week to a subcontractor here in the Twin Cities. Talked to them on the phone and got the quote last Friday. I’m now waiting to schedule an install. It’s definitely moving at a snails pace but it’s hard to complain since this is part of the Ford Promise (Ford pays for install and Pro charger). But if I was paying for this I would have had several quotes and the charger installed by now.

I used QMerit to install my Tesla PowerShare system “gateway” for my Cybertruck. They were fine, but I only dealt direct with the contractor so they weren’t in the picture other than sending me the proposal (once I sent them all the details and photos of my homes electrical panel and install location) and collecting the payment. It all seemed to work well for me. That was 2 months ago. 2-3 weeks in between communication was not unusual based on how they operate. I wasn’t in a rush.

I just bought a lightning this week and am new to the forum. I’m not just a CT owner trolling the forum. lol

Thanks. I think because I have a circuit dedicated for level 2 charging, I have not been in a rush either. I had a Nissan LEAF (bought new in 2013 and sold it in 2018). If I only had level 1 charging at home, i would be in trouble. I live in rural Georgia. I think maybe my concern may have come from my own (misplaced?) distrust for dealerships not delivering on promises.

Does anybody have experience with Qmerit doing an install where the panel is in the basement and the circuit needing to be 75’ to the charger? I’m guessing my non standard install would be $$$$ through them and wouldn’t be covered if I tried to use the Ford program.

That’s a big run for sure. I’d add $500-$1000 to the average cost if there is one.

I had that done, about same distance and it was around $1700.00 in Ma. The wire he used was # 4, three wire cable at $10.00 a ft. Don’t know what Ford allows, didn’t have install deal when I got my 23 lightning

My Tesla charger pulls from the workshop sub panel that is ~60’ away. The electrician charged me $1000 using 6/2 romex. MA allows a 60 amp EV circuit on 6/2. Running #4 THNN in conduit would’ve almost doubled the cost. I usually charge the Tesla at 32 amps, but it’s fine at 48 amps too. The 50 amp welder outlet on the opposite side of the front garage wall is also 6/2. I haven’t finalized my new lease yet. I should call Qmerit and see what the standard install would cover.

If I wanted to install the charger outside on the side of the driveway on a pedestal the run to the main panel would be about 15’.
