Nice cold evening (25 degrees F) and a friend happened to have a kick butt thermal cam, so we snapped a few pictures for fun.

The truck had been sitting about an hour and a half and then remote started about 15 minutes prior. Prior to that it had driven 30 minutes after sitting in my 60 degree garage.

Temp scale (sideways) is pretty accurate.

Nice. A friend of mine has a nice FLIR thermal camera that I have used for a few things. Can be interesting to see what get hot...

Interestingly the battery packs don’t seem to show up as warm.

Hmm interesting, this has me thinking. I have a thermal camera, I'd like to test the batteries during the preconditioning. I know if you set your departure times then you can precondition the cabin climate, but people also say that it warms (or cools?) the batteries to the idea temp, however I haven't seen this in the app or in any Ford literature. I'll have to try this and report back

Just make sure you're plugged into your EVSE and there is no TOU limitation during the few hours prior to your departure time, approx 30 to 60 minutes prior to leave time the battery warming phase will commence. I'm curious to see what you find!

We need this tonight in NJ where the low is supposed to be 5F… I would like to see the thermals and how it’s keeping the battery nice and toasty.
