Does anybody have experience with Qmerit doing an install where the panel is in the basement and the circuit needing to be 75’ to the charger? I’m guessing my non standard install would be $$$$ through them and wouldn’t be covered if I tried to use the Ford program.
80 feet is the Power Promise maximum for a standard installation. If it's 75' and the rest of the requirements are met, it should be covered as standard.

My panel is on the opposite side of the house from where my charger needed to be located. After adding a separate control panel, they ran a conduit through my attic down the other side of the house into the garage. It was an extra $400 or so but expected since the install was more than a basic installation. Local contractor was great and followed up in a timely manner.

Mine is likely under 80’ of wire run if kept indoors. The wires for my solar already traverse the same path and I asked them to leave me a wire pull for future expansion.

I also leased my Lightning 3 weeks ago and on a similar timeline to you. Mine was assigned last week to a subcontractor here in the Twin Cities. Talked to them on the phone and got the quote last Friday. I’m now waiting to schedule an install. It’s definitely moving at a snails pace but it’s hard to complain since this is part of the Ford Promise (Ford pays for install and Pro charger). But if I was paying for this I would have had several quotes and the charger installed by now.
They called today and scheduled my charger installed for Jan 10th.

I called Qmerit this afternoon. The representative confirmed the 80’ and added that it was up to a 60 amp circuit. The normal info she rattled off mentioned exterior conduit. She was unable to tell me about running it through my basement and attic. She was helpful and friendly.

I got my lightning a week ago, the dealer handed me the FCSP new in box at the same time. Qmerit email with code came 4-5 days later, i got a quote within 24 hours. Much to my surprise, the cost for me was about $900. I called in twice and emailed, finally spoke with the electrician subcontracted to understand why Ford's basic installation was not sufficient. For context: home is built by Lennar in 2016, suburban standard home with natural gas heat, no attic above the garage, no basement.

  1. Lennar installed a main panel on exterior near meter rated for 125 Amps.
  2. Lennar installed a sub panel in the garage rated for 60 Amps
For these reasons, they need to install a Load Management Device, and run the power from the main panel up and over my home to any installation point. It was explained that since my home has natural gas heat, the builder used bare minimum equipment suitable. The charging on the EVs require this upgrade that is not included in Ford's 'Basic Installation'. I asked if i could locate the FCSP anywhere else to save cost, and it did not matter as the garage sub panel was essentially irrelevant to the FCSP installation. The costs to me are about 50% upgrade and 50% extra length to route up and over the home.

I leased 11/29. Was handed the FCSP while signing paperwork. They told me approx. 2 business days until I would hear from QMERIT.

I got my code on 12/3 and submitted info same day - asking for a site visit in the comments to verify the "best spot" in the garage. I'm not sure I will stay EV so wanted it set up to handle a welder if I ever remove the FCSP.

Site visit 12/5.

Approved "invoice" 12/6. Popup stated they would contact me within 2-3 days for scheduling.

Radio silence. So I emailed.

I have had to badger them to get it scheduled, and kept getting the runaround about "parts are on order". I have a very standard installation and could pick up all components at the local hardware store today. I only have L1 charging at home right now and a standard range battery. In hindsight I would have taken the credit and done the install separately. I had an electrician lined up to get it installed in less than 1 week before getting the truck.

Finally scheduled for 1/7.

This feels like what I am currently experiencing. I emailed QMERIT about a week ago. They replied that they were “assigning the job now”. As if they were sharing some new great news. But, that’s exactly what they told me more than a week prior to that. So far, I’m not confident anything is actually happening. It was this feeling that prompted my initial post here.

I’m curious to know how things went with the install of the Ford Home Charging Station for others here in the forum. I purchased my extended range Lightning 3 weeks ago. I received an email request for pictures and other details about my home electrical circuits which i promptly sent back. “QMERIT” is the name of the company managing the installation - from information from me to supposedly assigning my job to an electrician. I have sent one follow-up email asking about the project. The reply was “the project is being assigned”. Should I expect not to hear anything for a while?
Qmerit is the new name for SunRun - the original installer recommended by Ford for the charging system installation. They changed their name because their reputation is SO bad. That’s all you need to know about them.

I bought my 2024 F150 on 12/5, contacted QMerit on 12/6 and had the local electricians install it on 12/13. I had an extra 40 feet of cable run over the 10 feet included in the basic installation and they charged me an extra $450 here in Michigan.

It was a very smooth process and I was very happy with both QMerit and my local electricians, Bazen Electric.

I used Qmerit for my install before Ford started using them, based on @tommolog recommendation. Timeline was very similar to @150Flash, paid $900 to have it installed ~5ft and opposite side of the wall from breaker box. They had to come out twice, as SunRun was unable to ship my FCSP on time. So they did most of the work, then came back out when it arrived to finish. Was very happy with the communication from all involved and will likely re-use them to install an additional outlet for the wife's PHEV.
You got the FCSP installed with home backup capability for $900??

UPDATE: I called today to get more info. What I got was the same “we are assigning your project to an installer. You should hear from someone in 24-48 hours”. I also received ANOTHER copy of the original email that reads “Great News! Your project is being assigned….. you will be contacted within 3-4 business days.” AND that email has the date that I started the process in it! Lol. November 23! Today is December 23! I have now received that email 4 times.

This is completely fabricated nonsense. Qmerit is a large electrical contractor and has absolutely nothing to do with Sunrun. Sunrun is it's own company and likewise has nothing to do with Qmerit.

For the current problems people are having, remember who Qmerit works for in this. It is not you. Qmerit is being hired and paid for by Ford. Qmerit cannot do anything Ford doesn't let them do. I'd bet good money the problems with getting scheduled are all on Ford.
