@HOTAS Do you know someone at the Ford lightning assembly plant? If yes, do they know if the non 7.2 inverter pro power lightnings have the wire harness connections to accepts the 7.2 inverter after the fact?

That’s the million dollar question. We need to see a non-9.6 (7.2) to know what’s there. I’m having my doubts they share the same wiring harnesses.
If the sun visor wiring harness differs between trucks, I bet the inverter harness differs too. The connections will be significantly different.
But it would be nice to compare.
I don’t know anyone at the Rouge Plant.

I have a non-9.6 (7.2) 24 Lariat. Do you think I would need to remove the bed in order to get know for sure? If yes, how hard is it to remove a bed?

@Pioneer74 might be able to help observe a Lightning in production, there must be some running the line sporting only the 2.4KW inverter.

No.. Ive looked into this. Nothing is there that would need to be there. You would have to replace the HV harness in the rear.. Problem is its all sold together and runs from the front. If you can find a used harness off ebay you could take what you need and add it to you HVJB in the rear..

I believe the second inverter is the 7.2 so you have to get the correct one for it to be the right setup. My understanding is you have the 2.4 plus the 7.2 in the lightning where as you only have the 7.2 in the hybrid. So in the hybrid if you have the 2.4 you can upgrade by swapping inverters. Im not fully clear on this point.. but I believe this to be the case.. I am open to be corrected if someone knows for sure.

THere is some wiring you would have to run to the PCM and some linbus. No telling what the programming end would be like.

I looked hard at this.. and could do it. It is a matter of if I feel like it. Dealing with the coolant and HV system isnt very enticing.

End of day its doable just a matter of if you want to deal with it all or not.
