My part came in today. Probably a stupid question but does it matter which motion sensor goes where?

I had incorrectly read/understood the prying removal process for the overhead panel steps...so for anyone reading this that hasn't attempted:

Pry down from the control panel closest to you in the seats, there are (iirc) 4 flush crimps that can be pulled down with force and that leaves two leg/hook extensions going up into the cavern closest to the windshield. Then stick those legs up in first upon putting it back.

I had read (or thought I read) the opposite and pry'd down from the windshield side first and broke one of those legs off. It still holds fine but I wish I hadn't done that.

FYI I seem to remember that my 2022 Premium Tech trim Mach E had this system in it... and it worked well and unobtrusively, as far as my memory tells me. I'm investigating my 2023 XLT today for potential installation.

Kudos to the various contributing authors!

So I pulled down my overhead console on my 2023 XLT ER 312A (pretty much corresponds to the 2024 Flash IMHO) and unfortunately the dummy blue box is missing... and moreover, the console trim shell has only one (1) opening to the cabin where the sensors go... the central one. The two side sensor openings in the ribbed side areas are not there.

However, the white holding interior trim plate below the printed circuit board, which is clearly meant to hold the three sensors, is present.

I guess in my case this might mean mixing & matching silly trim parts :( or perhaps Dremeling open the slits for side sensors to be able to "sense".

I'm still investigating the connector situation.

Having a Pro, I'm in a similar situation as you where I'd need to open up the slits for the sensors to work. If it helps, I believe that these are the parts you'd need for a DIY harness running to the BCM (but I have not verified yet):

Sensor Connector: TE 1241634-1
Sensor Connector Pins: TE 5-928999-1

You can pick up ground from the overhead console harness (pin 6).

Edit: Also, I believe that these are the two pins you'd need to use for connecting to both BCM modules (but, again, I have not yet verified)

Power - C2280C Pin 15 (Fuse # 11)
LIN Bus - C2280E Pin 36 (LINbus # BCM # 3)

Yes, this of course helps, especially the connector numbers. Thank You.

On further parts inspection, I see that there are four (4) major trim components in the overhead console.

Two trim panels, both in the inside, are the black cover and the white base for the printed circuit board + motion sensors. Both these are molded to accept the blue box and the sensor wires for the motion sensors.

The outer two are the gray, visible trim panels... and they are clipped one into the other and then fused together at the pins. This combined panel is the one to either replace or to Dremel out for the side sensors.

Question: what gauge wire to use for the missing harness? 22? 20? 18? It's been a while and I'll have to dig thru my old parts bin in the basement haha.

Do you recall whether your truck was sold to you with the window sticker noting that the security system had been “removed?” The upper part of the sticker on my truck (‘23 Lariat) listed the security system among the many features of the truck, but in the sticker section that tallied up the cost of the truck’s features there was a $50 deduction shown for removal of the system.

My window sticker lists a "perimeter alarm" in the Safety/Security section. I have no deletions or credits listed under the Cost breakdown.

2023 XLT ER Option / Package 312A, built in Nov 2023.

I believe we can do what @Jesse-Infotainment did in his post above and just Dremel out the material blocking the sensors. I think minimal disassembly is necessary but I have not done it yet. As for wire gauge, I think that Ford uses 22 (and the pins I linked to should accommodate that size) but 20 gauge pins are also available for that connector. I assume for the BCM too but would have to look.
