My dealer said they couldn't replicate the issue of no sound when they connected their own iphones for carplay, so they refused to do this TSB (after they had the truck for 2 days...). Am I missing something here?

Find a better dealer. Mine did it, no questions asked. Over a week now and zero disconnects.

Brought my truck in this morning for some recalls and told them about this. They mentioned that i'm out of warranty coverage, but if I wanted to proceed it would be about $1000.

That’s insane. TSB’s aren’t covered after warranty?

I have several CarPlay issues with the sound being hit or miss. Sometimes connecting, sometimes not connecting. I am also out of original warranty and have extended warranty but have to pay the Diagnosis fee. Not even sure if it’s worth it. But I do want walk away lock.

I had it done last week and I still have CarPlay issues. About half the time I still get no audio and have to disconnect and reconnect my phone. It’s not worth paying for. Hopefully they’ll get another version out soon that actually fixes it.

How can you check if all modules were updated? Only change I can notice is user preferences reset and an error comes up “lane centering unavailable” when I enable blue cruise

For me, I could tell because all the missing features became available. Not sure how else to check without FORScan.

Mine is an early ‘22 Lariat ER. I haven’t received the notice from Ford. Everything works though. But I don’t have and really want “walkaway locking”. Does the program described by the actual notice that began this thread get that for me?

Updating the BCM module on a 2022 will activate WAL. The APIM module must be updated to turn it on and off (default on) and turn on chirp (default off) in SYNC 4.

Can I update the BCM module myself, or do I have to go to the dealer or do I wait for an over-the-air update from Ford? My latest software update was 9/6/24

You'll need a dealer trip. The BCM is the only module that the average person can't update themselves using FDRS.
