Yep. Either reach out to Ford chat or your dealer to get your railcar ID. From there you can call the rail operator's automated trace line to get updates on where the railcar is.

Here is the instructions for CSX, which is the operator all trucks will start out on:

CSX
1. Call the CSX 1-800-235-2352
2. When prompted for location or weight, press "1" on your phone for location.
3. When prompted for the car initials, say TTGX (or whatever initials you have) then wait for the next prompt.
4. When prompted for the car number, say 907048 (or whatever your number is)
5. When prompted for next car say DONE.
6. That's it; enjoy your updated status report.

From what I gathered when figuring out the whole rail tracing thing, if you ever get connected to a real person when calling the trace line, hang up. Apparently the trace is for customers of the rail operator only.

Alright. I think I have this railcar tracking thing down. First off, here is my railcar. Apparently people care enough to document this stuff online. Ain't she a beauty?

So I had been calling into CSX but I kept getting the info that my railcar was last in Arlington, TX on September 13th.

I called UP this morning and got a status that seems legitimate. Here is what I was told

• Gateway receipt. 11/06 @ 11am. Gateway yard Illinois. 11/11 6am.

UP publishes a glossary online which has helped decipher the message a little bit.

Gateway: A point through which freight commonly moves from one territory to another.

When I google gateway yard, Illinois, this is the top result. If correct, it looks like my truck has made it to St. Louis! What I'm not clear on is what that last date is. Maybe the date it is expected to leave the gateway yard?
