Afternoon all. Apologies on the delay and not being here in the morning to kick your production week off. (Sometime I actually have to work at work. Lame.)

Anywho, I scanned through the main order tracker and pulled anyone who had a VIN listed. If you are not on this list but want to join the fun, please consider DMing me your VIN or at the very least send me the state of your dealer, your blend date, your truck trim, and your battery.

I'm pretty sure most of us won't get our trucks in 2022, but is the idea of doing all the paperwork after it's built also a no-go for the tax credit?

To claim the tax credit for 2022 the tax law states that the vehicle must be "acquired" and then later defines "acquired" as "when title to that vehicle passes under state law"

All this being said...does the title immediately go in your name when you finish the paperwork at the dealer?

In our state, title gets electronically transmitted so yes.

For those that ordered an under $80K MSRP Lightning - do you expect half tax credit ($3750) or none based on what the tax rule that hasn't been interpreted??

my interpretation and not tax advice is you have two options:

1a. The ONLY way to potentially fall under the old ruling is to have ordered prior to 8/16. then it comes down to whether your deposit is considered a binding contract in your state I think.
1b. if you pass 1a above then I think in the first quarter of 2023 you could purchase and then claim half the credit for 2023 taxes since Ford phase out begins 1st/2nd quarter 2023.

2b. HOWEVER, I believe you also have the ability to claim under the new law (post Aug16) if the truck meets the battery minerals and battery components requirement. they have till NLT Dec31 to provide guidance on these new rules. not sure what the outcome will be and if they can postpone, but we will find out soon.

im kinda curious about this too, what are modules and tear tags people are talking about and how do you check those?

might be a little early for us to check those but want to be ready. My blend date is 12/16 so i might not see those things until next week.

I would suggest following build week 12/5. They’ve answered alot of questions regarding this.

ok read that whole thread. for anyone else wondering, you can check your modules and tear tag here - https://www.motorcraftservice.com/AsBuilt/Details

modules are basically the parts of the car being installed, once those start populating, it means your truck is really in production.

tear tag means your car is basically built, but some people have had chip holds after this.

My Blend Date was yesterday (12/13/22)...


The Ford Tracker (https://shop.ford.ca/vehicleordertracking/status/?vin=) now shows a Production Date of 12/13/22 but no check.

I've got Tear Tag this afternoon and my Dealer just messaged me that the truck is built.

He said is shows that it was received by the transport company and that historically it about 10 days to get here from this point.

I'm stunned and in disbelief...

Also gives me the smallest bit of hope for this year. My blend date is tomorrow(15th) and my dealer is fairly close. (180 miles)

@EdwinT, I know...I'm almost thinking that they're pulling my leg. He said its possible to even get it before years end. I'm not really prepared because I thought I had another month but I just setup an loan appointment with my CU for tomorrow. I've had the conversation with my insurance agent already...whoa.

I wonder if Ford adding that 3rd shift is having an impact?

So how many of you are close to the plant? I assume Ford panned it this way to maximize the deliveries they could get in for 2022.
