Oh, and as I said early on, the EV credit expansion/extension is dead as a doornail. And no @Greene, I am no Elon fan. Sheesh.

Its a non binding amendment... far from dead. As mentioned, lots of things happen in vote-o-rama. No chance it goes in the final bill like that....

deade, dead, dead. I've been to this rodeo many times, have testified numerous times on the hill, have spoken to both of my Senators and my Congressman on the issue in the past two weeks (disagree with two of the three but we're friends), it is done. Everyone gets that EVs now sell without help and have reached price parity with ICE. Literally everyone in DC, both sides of the aisle. The only remaining support comes from die-hard Bernie types. Go ahead, define yourself.

Okay, I'm an idiot.

The whole time I was reading and writing WSJ, in my head I was seeing NYT. Still not "aggressively center-right", I don't think, but, a valid source

I believe the tax credits for my green home, solar panels at my farm, and multiple EVs are a social evil
I take a more on the street approach vs. 30,000 foot philosophical view.

Does the program work to achieve its goals. Yes it does.

Is the goal a good one? Yes it is.

Volts, Leafs, many hybrids with large batteries and some EV capability (which is where most of the subsidies were directed) are working people's cars and they are on average $15k more than a polluting equivalent ICE vehicle. People could not afford the low emissions vehicles without the incentives. So they make sense based on how they are applied, increase sales of zero/low emissions vehicles building the mfg capability for 21st century and creating a market for it.

Kind of like the internet and computers, started by government sponsored programs to get started. That's worked well.

For those that read my previous reply to @blkZ28spt , I'm sorry for replying in such a childish manner. It was not warranted and I regret posting it. But I will say that he could probably use a subscription to Grammarly to reduce red lines when people quote/reply to him. Might also keep him from getting mocked when he complains about ' Nobody likes a bias grammar fascist '.
Yes, I say bias instead of biased. I don't care. That...was the whole point of "bias grammar fascist".

[Thats] the joke

More than one red line on your replies ( 5 on the first I replied to).
Nobody likes a grammar Nazi

It detracts from whatever it is you are attempting to communicate, and we end up with this, completely irrelevant bickering about damned grammar.

Though I gotta say...really wondering how you got 5 red lines out of this post

Okay, it's official, I found the shill
Let's talk some more about bias grammar shall we? What could possibly be more productive?

Nope, you won. You own me. You only have two red lines and two blue lines when I quoted your reply. GREAT JOB! (Grammarly says you should not have a comma after 'this,' should have had a comma after 'grammar,' did not like 'it is' and 'possibly,' but what the hell do they know?) But I'm pretty sure Grammarly is a far-left grammar nazi designed to call out anyone who leans to the right!
Wow.

I really did find a real life, grammar Nazi

Ha? what do you know

The owner of a phev could also never plug in and always run on normal hybrid mode....I don't know why you would but I am sure there are plenty of people out there who don't even realize they can plug in their phev because the salesperson never told them it could.

Usually, you won't go broke underestimating intelligence of an average shnook, but this is a bridge too far. The charge port door is pretty obvious, as is the charge cord that came with the car. Not to mention the roughly $5K price difference. Having said that, I do know one person who bought plug-in fusion only because it gave him ability to drive in the carpool lane, and refused to plug in, even when it was almost free.

It was possible to get a killer lease deal on the Wrangler 4xe because of the tax credit and many people buying them have no intention of ever plugging it in.

Ironically, the 4xe has fewer MPG in hybrid mode (after the battery is depleted) than most other Wrangler drivetrains so it ends up being worse for the environment if it's never plugged in.

Jeep recently raised the price of the 4xe which will probably decrease the number of people buying it just because of the favorable lease terms.
