Hello,
This is my first post in this forum, but I've been checking out all the great info for a while. I've been on the fence about purchasing a 2023 Lightning XLT extended range, and have been to a few dealerships here in California. It seems like there are still a fair amount of 2023's around, so I was wondering if anyone had opinions or experience as to what might happen when the $15000 discount expires April 2. Would Ford sweeten the offers, or would it be better to pull the trigger before April 2. I realize nobody probably knows for sure, but any insight would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

‘23 F150 Lightning Lariat ER (Sept ‘23 build)
They are including the $7,500 federal tax credit in that number…. So it’s $7,500 customer cash and $7,500 potential federal tax credit, if you qualify. If it was me I’d jump on it if you find a truck and deal that makes sense to you. I was lucky enough to get the $7,500 customer cash on my Lariat ER in Oct 23, that deal only lasted a month or so!

It's anyone's guess. Forum members can only offer non binding opinions.

I bought my 2023 Lighting Lariat with Max Tow in October 2023 when Ford was offering $7,500 rebate and it qualified for the $7,500 tax credit which it barely qualified for,. At the time the dealer also gave me a $2500 dealer discount. I was very happy with getting $17,500 off MSRP and I'm glad I jumped on it. Today I have read there are dealers offering significantly more of a dealer discount and you can get $7,500 rebate and $7,500 tax credit at point of sale.

It could change for the better or change for the worse after 4/2. No one knows.

Don't wait. And, as others have said, $7500 of that $15,000 is the Federal Tax Credit on the spot rebate. Make sure you will have $7,500 of fed tax liability in 2023.

The rules for point of sale tax rebate for purchases after 1/1/2024 only require that your income falls below the $150k single and $300k married in the current or 1 year prior tax year. My understanding is with point of sale tax credit, if your tax liability isn’t $7500 they will not claw back the credit. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

If I were in the market I'd look for a used truck. You will get either a cheaper truck or a more well optioned truck for the same price.

I bought new when used wasn't an option. If I had the will to wait until now I'd have a Lightning and $30k of walkin' around money.

Why wait and/or take a chance if you have located the one that you want? I bought my second one a week and a half ago while the most available choices were still out there. I know this was about XLT ER and all but savings is savings. Best deals I’ve ever seen ever on these trucks. I bought another Platinum in my case and received $12,500 ford manufacture discount plus another $1,500 ford manufacture discount, $14,000 discounts. Dealerships are taking an additional 10-12k off retail also if you do some shopping which was my experience. So net savings for my case was $30,000 from what my first truck cost me as the msrp price was also reduced by ford by $6000.00. I’m very happy with what I bought and any other price reductions are irrelevant to me at this point. When I was shopping for my first lightning in January 2023 they were at or over 98k with no rebates or any other discounts. Many Lightning’s also had the lovely ADM markups of another 10k over msrp. You know what they say about karma right…
Car makers are learning this as I type lol.

A brand new XLT ER is $52k-$54k. Used won't save $30k.

I would get the XLT before the offer expires. I did, and I love it. Ford has stopped making XLT ERs, the Flash trim has essentially replaced it. Once the 2023 XLT ERs are gone, they are gone. Could they discount it by $10k on the 3rd, who knows? $52k-$54k before state taxes for an Extended Range is pretty ridiculous. I traded in my Pro for it and only miss the seat material.

Around the time the current deal came about, I was trying to find my trucks twin but with an ER or even stepping up to a Lariat. The trade number puts a stop to it unfortunately, but in addition to that it seems most of the trucks dealers have don't have the tow tech/max tow on the window sticker.

Yeah, I got $40k for my Pro. I'm one of the lucky ones.

I wish I had Max Tow. The Tow Tech on the XLT ER is not a deal breaker because it already comes with the 360 camera.

The $30k referred to my own poor financial decision making.

In that price range you could find a used Lariat if that's what you are into.

How much did you get in trade in value for your pro?
