I think that EV price fluctuations will become the norm and we won’t like it.
- Technology particularly battery tech may render a nearly new vehicle obsolete before it’s direct replacement can be produced.
- Range anxiety. Any new truck that is announced with more claimed range than current offerings will depress values of existing trucks if the prices are comparable.
- Charging capacity. If new trucks offer improved charging abilities (including NACS),existing platforms will depress
- New competition. Today there only 3 manufacturers selling EV trucks. Each manufacturer that adds an EV truck will increase competition.

Should we be surprised that the current Lighting is already lagging in three of the areas above. Ford needs to get buyers today for an already “outdated” model.
Just because the current Lighting is “outdated” doesn’t mean that it’s not a great truck. I think we’re still getting a good value.

I reckon improved public charging infrastructure (reliability, availability) will mitigate this to some degree.

Some folks have been saying Dealers will be reimbursed so lot inventory will be discounted to reflect new prices this Friday (new stickers). Could be BS, could be true, maybe if I hit my Hopium pipe hard enough they'll extend something to those of us who bought already.

I don't need it, but y'all tripping if you'd say no to a rebate.

I'd take the rebate in a heartbeat if I could get one.

Knock on wood that is one I've never seen
I thought it was a cold weather/ice issue and it seemed to go away March/April but since mid May i see it at least 4-5 times a week. I actually wonder if it not working right is impacting my mileage, normal ive been getting 2.0 on my daily which is about 60 miles at 65mph and about 80 miles at 70mph then all of a sudden ive had days at 2.2 and even 2.3. Today back at 2.0 and had the warning about 10 minutes into my drive. And yes i have had the update that supposedly fixed the incorrect warnings.

Yes, dealers do receive an invoice adjustment on any on lot vehicles.
They are supposed to also print out a new window stickers for any incoming ordered and lot vehicles.

Recently the '23 Mach E had 2 price drops this year and the major drop in February resulted in Ford paying a refund check plus Ford Pass points to those that bought in January 2023 at the the higher price.

There might be hope for those that paid the higher price just before the lower pricing was announced...

I heard 2nd Qtr 2023 purchasers can stop by any ford dealer for a free tube of lube to offset the pain of getting screwed.
It hurts, it hurts bad. Out $9k already with less than 200 miles and past the 14 day of no return.

@Ford Motor Company should send a check of the difference to those of us that have overpaid. Like many others, I am very upset and this may be my last Ford vehicle.
I'm in the same boat. They likely calculated the decreased price months ago and set an implementation date. Those that were in between those two dates should get the difference reimbursed. @Ford Motor Company

Worst part is I just got the Powertrain Malfunction alert, which reading through the forums means a cell is going to go bad and strand me. Looking forward to calling the tow truck and Ubering to Ford knowing my truck is worth almost $9k less and has a fatal battery failure... ugh.

I just wish everything wasn't driven by the government rebates. I'm used to seeing manufacturer's rebates or price adjustments ($5000, $7500, $10000 off), but that has always been off the original MSPR. The original value/MSPR of the truck (or any vehicle) was always the same, some just got a better deal (discount) depending on when they purchased (typically better deals closeer to the end of that model year). But when they decide to lower MSPR, like they did, I am out $10,000 plus a $5000 government rebate (I'm up in Canada) AND my truck is actually worth significantly less than I paid for it 20 days ago. I'm really hoping Ford does a goodwill refund similar to what they did for the Mach-E.

Doesn't make sense that trucks sitting on a dealer's lots (and we have a ton in Canada) that were built and shipped before my truck can now simply print a new window sticker with a reduced MSPR. Those trucks would have cost the same to build as mine. Interesting side note, I am no longer able to view my truck's original window sticker with the MSPR online (FordDirect.com), which I could see right up until they announced the price adjustment. Wonder if the system is screwed up now/confused with the lower MSRP's, or maybe there is something in the works from Ford to help out those of us that paid higher prices (fingers crossed).

If I'm not mistaken the XLT 312(SR) is now actually cheaper now than it was at launch. The 312 package itself was roughly 10,000 and now its 5000 bringing the total current 312 truck price 59,995 under the launch amount of (52,974+9500=62474)

If you are like me and ordered 7 months ago (Jan23) and received your truck after the (March-May) increase and before the price drop...(My delivery - June 27th)

Did you really lose the full price drop? Ford honored my purchase price from January.

So to me it was $6900-$2500 = $4400 total damage.... Just saying.

I would say, I would of probably gone with an ER rather than the SR; but oh well - I love the truck.

I took delivery less than a week before the price cut, and haven’t even come close to 1000 miles yet on the truck. The dealer just called offering to take the truck back and refund the money due to the price cut (I assume Ford must be willing to cut them a check for the difference when they resell it). I have the Home Integration System installed, and ready to pair with the truck, and I don’t think they would want to buy that back too. I would think it is in Ford’s best interest to work something out with its customers to keep a satisfied and loyal customer base to help build momentum on this great new vehicle.

(if anything, ICE owners might consider the depreciation of their vehicles as the gas station *gradually* follows the public pay phone into obsolescence [I work at a middle school and I’m always amazed by how many of the kids don’t even know what those are ]).
