Nobody forced you to buy the truck. You were still willing to pay the price you did.
We had a choice???? What??? Lol I love my truck it is what it is. I'm just happy I qualify for the full 7,500 which previously with a January delivery date didn't seem like that was gonna be the case. Am I bummed out that I paid more than what somebody is going to pay as of today yeah, but nothing I can do about. A lot of co-worker know today about the price drops to see it asked me questions about my truck. In the conversation with him I looked at my app for my charging unit and I've paid about $300 and charging since January and have driven over 7,000 mi. With some quick math who knows if it's right that same mileage would have cost me about $1,400.

Could it be the vindication/karma that late reservation holders were looking for??
might be premature in my case: this is what I just got from Granger:

"Unfortunately, since you do have a VIN, no changes can be made. In regards to the price reduction, we will not be able to apply anything until we your Lightning arrives on our lot. I have not honestly heard anything from Ford regarding that".

I just checked and CVRP tops up at $7.5K for low income. What $5K EV tax grant are you referring to? thanks. There is also local pollution control/utilities rebate typically from $500-3K in qualified areas.

I also see some programs for USED EV's. Maybe finding a good cheap Tesla/Ford may be a play for some.
Well, that sucks. Looks like they dropped it back down or was a glitch. Back to $7500. But replace a junker and you get close to the $15K;)

Here is the grant website. Closed for now.... https://cleanvehiclegrants.org/

For those feeling "salty", I wouldn't just yet. These dealer will add whatever price drop and Fed Tax credit into the sale. $49k for a Pro? More like $59k or more.

2001 FORD RANGER, 2023 F-150 LIGHTNING
Greater Plant Capacity, Improving Efficiencies Support Lower F-150 Lightning Prices for Customers

1689558246417.jpeg

DEARBORN, Mich., July 17, 2023 – Ford is taking advantage of increased plant capacity, continued work on scaling production and cost, and improving battery raw material costs to help lower the MSRP of F-150 Lightning® for all customers.

The Rouge Electric Vehicle Center in Michigan is temporarily closed to complete final plant upgrades to triple the plant’s annual run rate to a targeted 150,000 F-150 Lightning trucks beginning this fall.

The upgrades at the plant, combined with improving battery raw material costs and continued work on scaling production and cost, help make it possible to lower pricing across the F-150 Lightning line. Customers will now have greater availability of their built-to-order truck as early as October at an MSRP closer to initial Lightning pricing.

“Shortly after launching the F-150 Lightning, rapidly rising material costs, supply constraints and other factors drove up the cost of the EV truck for Ford and our customers,” said Marin Gjaja, chief customer officer, Ford Model e. “We’ve continued to work in the background to improve accessibility and affordability to help to lower prices for our customers and shorten the wait times for their new F-150 Lightning.”

F-150 Pricing.jpg

With ordering now open for all customers, Ford is offering a $1,000 bonus for retail customers who build their own XLT, Lariat or Platinum truck through their dealer or via ford.com from July 6 to July 31 as part of the national summer sales event. In addition, Ford Credit is offering eligible buyers interest rates as low as 1.9 percent APR for 36-months.1
It had to happen eventually with the competition from Chevy Silverado and Cybertruck about to heat things up and an 80+ drop-out rate of reservations.

Still not back down to their $39.9k announced starting MSRP though, so still $10k too high.
Might be some room to negotiate with the sale folks and get a few thousand knocked off before purcahse.

This could put pressure on Chevy (and Tesla-Cybertruck) to compete on price for their starting MSRP.

Ford's new battery tech coming soon-ish should result in production cost savings as well in the near-ish future and hopefully an even better price.

I am tempted to bite but...

Just did a test build on FORD.COM, specifications for 2023 Lariat-ER with Max Tow & AS tires, (MUST SELECT AS TIRES MASS RESIDENTS) included folding boards, still meets the federal Credit requirements and also the Mass MOR-EV truck credit!!!

@TaxmanHog - you are kinda blowing my mind right now - I've never heard of this Mass tax rebate MOR-EV - were you successful with your 2022 purchase? Do you have to wait the 4 years to get the rebate? I'm digging in now, and will apply today - but i'm just getting a little too excited at the thought of another $7500 rebate! Looks like my truck's weight makes the cut by 50 lbs!?!?

About to do more digging, and hope i'm not dreaming...

While price adjustments are part of the game of a new product, it simultaneously leaves a bad taste in your mouth that Ford gave intro pricing to the initial 2022 orders before trying to see how much money they could squeeze remaining reservation holders, then dropping back down to near 2022 prices once they were gone.

I was pretty gung ho on ordering a T3 when they start to come out, but I’m definitely reevaluating and probably waiting until the Cybertruck/REV/Silverado EV hit mass production and competition can stabilize prices to hopefully avoid this rollercoaster again.

Here's my 2 cents:

Seeing what happened to the Mach E price drops in February with the announcement of LFP batteries for SR - Ford announced a rebate check + Ford Pass points to be given to those that purchased their MME at the previous higher price ('22 -> '23) after the price drop was announced.

Might happen for some Lightning buyers as a result of this announcement???

Yes, I and many others with Platinums and Lariat-ER's wearing AS tires have applied and received the credit, you get the full $7500 until they max out the value block 1 (112 units remaining), then it drops to value block 2 value still $6,375. (200 units)

The bureaucracy is a bit slow, but about 60-120 days later the check is paid out.

You need to keep the truck in stock/as/built form for four years, subject to random audit, after that your free to modify, replacement of worn tires should be done with similar specifications to the OEM all season. If you decide the truck is not for you after the fact, a pro-rata repayment of the credit would be required.

Good luck.

Here's another way to think about it. What if they had announced a $10K increase and you, like me, bought one last week? If they called you this morning and said, "Hey, you owe us another $10K.", what would your answer be?

They can't advance the Federal tax Credit.

They will price to truck to what someone is willing to pay. If nobody buys it then they will drop the markup eventually.
