I can't believe when I search "25%" I haven't seen anyone posting about this issue. A week ago today my truck had service now SES light/wrench on. I drove it straight to the dealer, got a Mach-E loaner and have been getting daily calls from my awesome service advisor telling me they were working on it. He told me on the 3rd day they had done the BECM recall/update and that was fixed, but they were having issues with other things. DTCs for lighting and wiper motor recall among a few others. Then today, he called me and said while the service tech was test driving it a battery module DTC was set and they are now going to wait on advice from a BEV service specialist to proceed with diagnosis, but to expect a module replacement.

I can't believe I didn't get a pic of my actual dash before I took mine in, but a friend of mine now has the exact same issue just a week later, here is his pic:
Ford F-150 Lightning 25% Reduced Power 1703034369113

The truck is totally drivable with only 25%. But this has me wondering if Ford switched the default "problem" power reduction from 3% which is common to 25% in a previous BECM update so that the vehicle would be drivable at least (this seems like a smart move).

I'd love to hear if anyone else has/is experiencing this right now? Both of these trucks are XLT SR EG311A and I have 49kmi on mine. where my friend only has 15k. My friend's has already had a module replaced too early on about 1mo after he got it last year.

I pulled my BECM DTCs before I dropped my truck off:

The more of these issues I read the more I fear we may all see this in the lifetime of our trucks. 🙁

I’m trying to stay positive and hang on to the initial communication that stipulated 4% of some number of trucks produced as of that time, but it’s starting to look like it may be far more wide spread. 🙁

It sounds like they only did the BECM software update of 23B57 without verifying the status of the battery modules first. You likely have modules that need to be replaced.

Yea, I'm pretty sure whatever they did firmware update or not just cleared the DTCs and then the truck seemed fine until it again detected the same problem.

Yea, this has been a fear of mine too, that Ford has programmed such scrutiny into self check algorithms of the BECM that long before the true end of life of the truck there will be a issue that causes reduced power and the only fix is module replacement. I can't speak to the technical details, but I do believe there is something like this going on since they knew they were able to do OTA updates and relax things at a later date. Basically taking an over conservative approach in the beginning. It's hard to blame them with the political climate and what has happened to Bolts and others.

If you weren't online you would have no fear of a broken truck. Nobody starts a thread because they got to work without an issue today. Stuff breaks. If your truck breaks it's bad luck and it sucks but it's not inevitable.

This is partially true, people like me who like #'s and data would've been better about prying info out of the dealers and Ford if we didn't have these types of online platforms to vent/gather data. For instance the dealer my truck is at in Tulsa is one of the larger Ford dealers in the city Riverside Ford, they have 2 E-Certified mechanics and to date they have done 10+ different truck module replacements, my friends being the 3rd they did back in March. They have done more module replacements than dealer ordered Lightnings sold to date and I've never seen a markup on their Lightnings on the lot, so for this region I'd say they are pro EV, they've sold a ton of Mach-Es. To be fair I believe Ford BEV support is steering issues to this dealership b/c they have shown competence early on with their service department, so to point out how many module replacements they've done might not be fair. I know of 2 other large dealers who are clueless with EVs, one of which my friend first drove his truck to back in March and a service advisor who was checking him in got in the truck drove it around the parking lot with 3% reduced power and said, "this seems like a bad transmission",, LOL. The BEV support team promptly had it towed over to Riverside Ford.

I think this is the key to good service. My experience dealing with my local dealership is that I felt like I knew more about the truck than anyone I spoke with. To be fair I didn't speak to the tech who worked on it (just recalls and CSPs). I assume he knows a lot more than me.

Is your truck at the good dealership?

I saw this a while back on my PRO, maybe 65% or something, which was interesting as to 'why' it suddenly showed that... but it resolved itself and has never come back... oh well.

Reduced power is common for low battery charge and/or temp. It's reduced power due to a BECM DTC that is the issue here. I'd love for someone else to confirm that it used to reduce to 3%, then in some particular BECM firmware update they changed it to 25%.

Hi there! Would you send us a private message with your VIN and dealership name and location? I’d like to look into this concern on my end.
