happily retired!
Just got a flyer from Ford for an extended warranty, called the number , just like talking to any salesman, the the call ended without a satisfied customer , called the local Ford dealer, same.

I did get the deal I wanted though, being retired and planning to turn my Lightning and mach-e into antiques, I got this link from the Mach-e forum:

So much better than dealing with a salesman, only problem at first was my credit card, turns out I had to turn off my VPN to get it to work! 75,000/10 years now for the lightning !

No company is allowed to sell warranties in CA or FL per state laws. You have to go to an in-state dealership and pay what they ask, likely list price.

To be clear, that's 75,000 - 36,000 = 39,000 more miles, and 10 - 3 = 7 more years. And it adds nothing to the battery and related warranty.

…..75,000/10 years now for the lightning !
Curious, how many miles will be on your Lightning at 3 years ?

You bought 7 more years (in theory), but how many more miles of warranty ?

Subtract your current Mileage from 75,000.
Divide that difference by your average miles/year…..that will possibly be how many more years you bought.

Either way, no gain in battery/drivetrain coverage

True. But you can input any state address that does take out of state 😂. I used a family address in Ohio and worked just fined. It updated my address in ford pass but went and change it 🤷🏻‍♂️ stuck it to the man

Things change all the time, I bought peace of mind. With all the modules, controllers and what ever , I don’t want to dig into self repair at this time in my story. Being retired isn’t just the release from the daily drive, but the freedom to pack and drive!

Hey, I get it. I look at those coverages and run the numbers too.
Sometimes there’s a misunderstanding on how they work.
I look forward to retirement soon and plan on some serious pack and drive.
I certainly Love driving the Lightning !

To answer the headline of what I'm going to do, I'm not going to do anything as most of the expense is the battery and that goes until 8yr/100k. If a motor goes out, I'll pay that myself. I'm certainly not going to buy some extended warranty thing as they are going to be making the money, not me.

I'm going to get a 10/100 warranty for ~$2,500.

Will I save money? Odds are no. On my last truck I came out ahead. But I don't get warranties to save money. I get them so I don't give a s--t if something goes wrong.

On my last truck I pushed the button to open the sunroof and it made a loud pop and the glass went crooked. Module track broke, would have cost me $2,100. When it happened, instead of cursing and thinking of dollar signs, I just went "oh well."

I would think a motor repair would be very pricey, anyway if you didn’t see here is a link to the premium care ev brochure.

Motors, or as Ford refers to them as eDrive systems, are covered along with the battery for 8yr/100k miles.

It’s all the other stuff that concerns me, one out of warranty service can still cost more than the warranty .

I hear ya, but they make money by taking in more than they have to pay out for mechanical work. So someone is making money and it’s not you. I understand some people get these because they don’t want to save for a possible big cost, but the percentages are always on their side.
