Can you guys clarify how we are supposed to return the recalled ones? I assume there will be instructions included with the replacement. I just want to be sure you aren’t waiting to receive the old one before the new one is shipped. The email just says “create a return shipping for customer”.

Thanks for responding. I was able to follow a link that another forum member provided and submitted my info. I do want to say that I’m really sorry this has happened. I will encourage folks to buy your products.

I never got the email but had a very nice exchange with one of the A2Z safety members. Upon following the recall instructions you get an email... and it states the following:

Return Method: Instructions on how to safely dispose of the adapter will be provided upon shipping of your replacement adapter.

Talking on the phone with the A2Z person things are a little crazy for them and messages are changing as they work this voluntary recall. Hopefully, when they start shipping we'll all understand the next steps. I appreciate them taking the time to make sure we all stay safe

A2Z has updated its exchange process. We are no longer shipping the V1 adapters back. We are being asked to dispose of the V1 adapters and sending them a picture.

I have to imagine that this will help A2Z safe a lot of costs with this recall. Now, I am off to grab my pliers.

Update on NHTSA Recall #24E093000 – Replacement Adapter Shipment
Dear Customer,
Thank you for trusting us and for your patience regarding the NHTSA recall #24E093000. We are pleased to inform you that your replacement adapter is ready to ship, and a tracking number will be sent to you separately via email. In the meantime, we kindly ask you to safely dispose of your V1 adapter by following the steps outlined in this video: https://bit.ly/3O6Oj9f.

Once you have completed the steps, the adapter will be rendered unusable. For recycling, here are a few recommended options:

• Specialized Recycling Services: Companies like Freedom Electronics offer specific programs for recycling EV charging equipment. For instance, they provide an EV Charger Recycling Program with incentives for returning non-working Level 2 chargers.
• Municipal E-Waste Collection: Check with your local municipal waste management services for designated e-waste collection days or drop-off locations.

I also got a shipping confirmation for the new adapter. A2Z steps up and keeps it simple.

There are five screws under stickers/pads that allow you to pull the CCS side off along with its o-ring. Inside you will find the big conductors for DC and a lot of (silicon-based?) insulation material. I removed some of it to expose a conductor. It is well-made.

I wouldn't use sawzall on the adapter given the insulating material. I can't imagine that it's something that you'd want to breathe in.
