I didn't know this product existed:

https://accessories.ford.com/products/keyless-entry-keypad-for-vehicles-with-factory-remote-start

Could someone explain to me what the hardwired system gains that this doesn't have? I believe it's security related, just curious.

Would it serve the same purpose (albeit bulging out the side of the truck)?
I have that style keypad on my Bronco. The main difference is that it’s using a radio signal like the key fob whereas the hardwired system is directly wired to the truck’s harness. Functionally they can both work the same, I think the wired keypad is much better looking. I’ve been meaning to pull the one off the door of my Bronco and install it inside the gas door like others have to hide it.

Sorry guys, it turns out I won’t be getting to this project since I sold my Lightning today. I‘m outside the return window for the parts I bought, so I’ll put them up for sale as a package for someone else looking to try the install. I have two of the backordered keypads and one applique.

Were you ever able to verify the wire exists in the door?

Nope, I never pulled the door panel to check. The transport hasn’t picked up the truck yet, but I’m not going to mess with it now that it isn’t my truck anymore 😁

If you still have these parts let me know, I would be interested in one of the keypads for sure!

You’ll have to ask @DocAdams44, he bought my truck and wanted the keypads and parts.

I’m ready and have the parts…just waiting on the truck! Built 12/31/22…still hasn’t shipped! Will be one of my first projects when I get it and I’ll report back!

I have the keypad but was waiting for better weather to start the project. I watched a guy on youtube just cut a slot in pillar cover with a dremel. was thinking of trying that. but either way i'll wait to see if there is the wire in the door.

I want to remove it on my Lariat... Need to figure out how. Not sure I can since it will include patching the hole...

I also need this for surfing and just ordered one. I found this install video. I'll let you know how it goes.

One option would be to order the Pro trim piece without the cut-out (or just fill in the cut out in the trim piece you have), and then wrap the trims so they all match. Here is a video of someone doing a wrap on that trim:

If you decide to do it, would love pictures of the inside of your door and the wire harness. A bunch of us are trying to figure out if we can wire in the intelligent access handles on the Pro and low XLT trim.

In fact, I'm in the area and will happily offer you a helping hand and take the photos!
