Android Auto randomly disconnects then immediately reconnects multiple times. No rhyme or reason I can figure out why/when/where it drops connection. Sometimes works fine for an hour, other times drops and reconnects twice in a minute. Didn't touch a single thing.

Biggest annoyance is I'm jamming to some song on XM Radio and when it reconnects it starts playing my last Spotify song and I have to go back and change audio source to XM Radio. Can't figure it out. Brand new Pixel 6 phone with latest/greatest version of Android Auto installed. Anyone know if this is a truck-side issues or a phone-side issue? Could be Bluetooth, Android Auto, or the truck's Sync 4 system. Thank you for any insight.

Honestly I think it’s just a small bug with Sync 4 because mine does the same but with Apple Car Play (iPhone Xs). Won’t happen for days and then it’ll happen multiple times in one trip. Happens far more frequently when I’m connected wirelessly fwiw

Agreed a small bug with a recent update, mine has been doing the same with Android auto but seems to be shortly after I disconnected from a phone call. This is a minor bug compared to some of the ones I have had in the past.

What phone/Android version? I have a Pixel 6 Pro, and a Pixel 5 before that, and neither had any real issues.

I'm going on 1yr with my truck and I've always had the random disconnects and it re-establishes within ~10secs. Sometimes fine for 5hr trips other times a couple disconnects on a 2hr trip. Seems totally random. Had a Galaxy S20+ the whole time.

I just upgraded to Galaxy 22 Ultra so I'll soon know whether it was phone dependent, or just general Sync/AndroidAuto issue. No disconnects yet in my 1st week.

We drive 4 hours round trip to go skiing every weekend. CarPlay drops at the same golf course both coming and going. Rock solid everywhere else.

Hi there! Can you send us a private message with your VIN and the name and location of your Ford dealer? I'd like to investigate this android auto concern. Thank you!

Interesting. My work has 2 driveway entrances to the parking lot. I've noticed the past few weeks if I pull into the farther one from the building my Android Auto connection drops every single time. Using the main driveway the connection holds. So... it's a location-based bug? What the heck?

Also, I PM'ed the Ford account above and no one ever contacted me. Another what the heck.

At least yours reconnects. Mine says "Lost connection to phone" and then never reconnects at all. Has happened a few times and I just got my Truck last Friday.

Same here.. there's a spot right next to my work, a traffic light, where this happens like clockwork. I lose connection as I approach, and it usually re-establishes when I get far enough away. When it doesn't, I've noticed when I go into Settings in Sync, and go to Phone List, Android Auto isn't enabled anymore. Re-enabling it sometimes works, when it doesn't I have to power cycle the truck.

Man these trucks seem to be like the abysmal Pixel 6 phone release (I have one)... we're all beta testers and the software/product was rushed and released before QC was complete. OTA updates are an awesome solution, but lots and lots of complaints about how well those are (not) working and my truck has never received an update (maybe it's fully up-to-date?). Some weird glitches with my truck
  1. Android Auto randomly drops due to... location?
  2. Trailer Trip function (in Towing Features settings) does not work at all, and yes I select the trailer every time (want to keep track of mileage on trailer wheel bearings)
  3. My View gauges reset themselves
  4. '+' backup camera zoom function works about 50% of the time, no rhyme or reason I can figure out
  5. Using Remote Start sometimes seat heaters are on high, sometimes off, sometimes medium, sometimes both seat heaters are on (no passenger) other times just driver, totally stumped
  6. Driver side mirror BLIS light stays on while towing a trailer for several mins, no car beside me
  7. No way to set up a schedule in the SecuriAlert function in FordPass app. "Your Schedules" shows nothing and there is no button/option to set up a schedule. Pixel 6 running Android 12.
It just seems like it's all so finicky and somedays works, somedays doesn't. We wanted and paid for luxury things instead of just rolling with the base XL version and manual windows and rubber flooring, which some days I wish I would have gone with instead. An F-150 rolls out of the factory every ~50 SECONDS, so they definitely mass produce these things. Just wish they put more effort into programming QC. If this forum has, just guessing, a couple thousand accounts, there are tens of thousands of Gen14 owners not sharing their complaints and praises. My truck only has 2,000 miles on it and I just hope the list above doesn't grow as I use it and it gets some normal wear and tear on it. Doesn't lend much confidence in how all the tech will hold up, for me at least. It's my third F-150 and a damn good looking truck, but its brain is suspect at times. Lots have posted much worse experiences for sure and acknowledge covid/supply chain challenges so we're lucky to even own one, but just had to rant for a minute. Thanks.

Hi there! Can you send us a PM with your VIN and Ford dealership information? I’d be happy to look into this F-150 concern on my end.

I just switched to an iPhone 13 last week, and I do not have this problem with CarPlay. With CarPlay, audio does hiccup (like a very brief interruption, like ~1 sec) but that's it. I see no indication any connection is lost or reset. It seems specific to Android Auto in my case, either with the software, or my old phone (a Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra)

I've had my new phone (galaxy s22 ultra) for 35 days and I finally got my first random android auto disconnect with it. It did automatically reconnect in about 20 seconds, as usual with my old phone too.

So it does not appear to be phone specific.

I went from a Pixel 3a to the new Samsung S22 and something weird that happened, is I can no longer use the "phone" button on the steering wheel to initiate a call. It will make the noise and wait for me to speak a command, but it won't do anything. The workaround I've found is that if I hit the google button on the display - I can say "call so and so" and it will work. Just the actual physical button on the steering no longer works.
