So I like the information you are trying to give new owners....just letting you know some things are lacking.
From another thread:
There's been debate about when the Lightning BMS kicks in and cools the truck's battery when the truck's not plugged in. Numbers like 115F and 120F have been batted around. That's another thing @Ford Motor Company could come clean on. They treat it like, "Don't you worry your silly little heads about such things. We've got you covered (but we won't tell you the details)..."
I agree—critical, useful details about how the truck works are often lacking, @Ford Motor Company .

“Is there a cost to use Connected Navigation?
Connected Navigation is a connected service with a complimentary 3-year trial included for electric vehicles.
For F-150 Lightning, Connected Navigation/Connected Built-In Navigation (as equipped) is available as a standalone paid subscription after the expiration of the 3-year trial.
Thank you and happy charging!

This is why the big OEMs are failing to gain significant market share. In order to navigate to a charging station, pre-condition the battery, etc, you must pay an extra fee. Finding a charging station is different from finding a gas station, but the OEMs do not understand that. Kia/Hyundai/Ford/GM, they all have a similar approach.

It's not can't, it's won't.

In addition, in the 24s if you don't pay for Connected Nav after the trial, they completely brick Nav.

No problem for me as long as Android Auto still works.

Hopefully if they do that, they also take the button off the display for Nav.

No, they don't remove the button. It will still operate as a general map. Long story, but I stumbled across the fact that they brick the functionality without payment when I took delivery of my '24 and the Connected Nav trial license wasn't applied, so the Nav wouldn't work at all. Dealer had never seen anything like it and Ford had to fix it on their end. In the '22s and '23s, Nav still operates after the trial, just without the live features.

Final analysis is the Ford Nav is so bad that I abandoned it after only a few weeks and have never looked at it since. I only use Waze through Android Auto.

How did you resolve the Connected Nav cert? I noticed mine doesn’t work like you described and in the connected services my trial is good for another 2.5 years. I used it on my mache to precondition battery and noticed it was not accessible when I got the lightning.

I'm also curious about this. I was trying to talk my brother through finding a charger using the Nav and it told him his connected services was not enabled. He just took delivery of a '24 Flash last Friday. I can't recall what I did when I bought my '22. Should the Nav connected service be enabled by default for new trucks?

At delivery my 3-year Connected Nav trial did not get activated. As the dealer was walking me through the basics on the truck we couldn't get navigation to come up at all. That's how I stumbled across the fact that in 2024 models if you don't pay for the Connected Nav subscription, Ford completely bricks the navigation functionality and you get a basic map. Previous model years it stays active, but just stops receiving map updates and other live features.

In my case, the option was turned on in the menus, but the trial license wasn't activated by Ford when BlueCruise, Alexa, and Premium Connectivity were . The dealer had to call Ford to get it activated. So yes, a trial license for Connected Nav should be enabled at delivery, apparently this doesn't always happen correctly.

There is a new glitch in the Connected Services screen. A subscription screen has now shown up for the 360-Degree Camera. The text references a 2023 Mach-E having a 90-day trial, but FFS, if they are going to start charging to view cameras that you have built into your vehicle, next they're going to demand a subscription fee to be able to roll down your windows.

Does it show the Connected Navigation feature in the app? If so, it should show you when the trial expires AND a green bar saying ACTIVE.

If you see an active (unexpired) trial, then go into the menus in the truck to make sure that Connected Navigation is turned on. If you have an active trial and it's turned on in the menu, then you need to contact your dealer to see what is going on.

If you don't have an active trial and think you should have one, you need to contact your dealer.

If you had a trial but now it's expired, then you can choose to pay for it (not recommended) or do like most of us do and connect AndroidAuto or Apple CarPlay for a much better navigation experience.

As a note related to my situation, I did have the app installed and connected at delivery, but none of the information on whether or not the connected features were active or their trial end dates showed up in the app for 3 or 4 days, so it was of no use diagnosing the issue at delivery. I literally had to push my dealer by saying if they couldn't get the navigation to work on an $80k truck, then I would refuse to sign for delivery and we'd kill the deal.

If they start charging a subscription in order for me to view my cameras. My truck will be up for sale and I’ll never buy another ford.
I’m worried that “glitch” means they are considering it…

This flies in the face of what I feel we were lead to believe about getting OTA updates that would increase our vehicles functionality over time.
