So this happened this morning - called dealership and they said $2,300 - any less expensive fixes / suggestions? Everything works fine - just unsightly broken plastic.
Note that inside there are sensors that need to be transferred to the new lens if you find one. I also THINK that it's (the lens) specific to Lightnings, and perhaps Lariats and above, but not positive on that.
Get replacement on eBay. Note there are two styles. You need the Lariat/Platinum style. Not Pro/XLT Style. Difference is the reverse light and how the tailgate meshes with the light. Lariats/Platinums have a different tailgate.
Then move your BLIS sensor from the old light to the new one. If you don’t you will have to have the dealer program it. Easy swap, three torx screws.
I had mine broken and I taped it with red tape and then spread clear silicone on it to make sure no rain gets inside it until I got it repaired. If the sensor inside gets wet then it is ruined and you will have to buy that also. Was kind of ugly for a bit but it stayed dry. Seems nuts the lens is $2,000.00 without the sensor which I feel should be the expensive part.
Tail Light styles
Pro/XLT on top (flush mount rectangular reverse light)
Lariat/Platinum on bottom (recessed trapezoidal reverse light, covered by tail gate when up)
